No. It is potentially toxic to their liver.

Many 'human' medications are safe for dogs, but quite a few are NOT, and many interfere with other canine medications. Do not give ANY without specific okay from your dog's doctor, who knows your dog's medical history, health condition, and current medications.

There are many drugs that are prescribed to pets that are also used in human medicine. The difference is usually the dose. The thing is, no one can safely say that it is ok to give a dog a darvocet because it is unsafe to say that any medication is ok to give a dog.
The medicine prescribed by veterinary doctors are prescribed after examination. The dosages are based on so many things not just weight.
For instance, steroids in dogs are used usually in a large first dose and then it is slowly stopped after a period of time because the medication can cause major body system damage in prolonged use.
Another example is medication used for eye problems. Say the dog has eye problems and you want to apply some eye ointment to the eye and you think you know what to give. And many people automatically think that because their pet has had the same symptoms before that the same eye ointment will be ok, which is VERY wrong. You could get lucky, but if that dog has an ulcer in his eye and the wrong ointment is applied, it can really damage the dogs eye. That is why a vet will insist to see your pet before any eye medication is given.

Point is... No medication is ok to give to dogs, unless specified by your veterinary doctor and even then, make sure you are clear on the name, the dosage and how often, or it can mean your loved ones life...

NO, i repeat NO people medications should be given to ANY animal with out a vets "Ok". Call your vet and ask them!

Dont rely on advice from here for something that could potentially be deadly to your pet. I'm sure there are a few vets hanging around in the forums and I'm sure they will tell you as well not to do that without consulting your vet.

A phone call to your vet shouldn't cost you a dime, if it does...find a new vet.

NO meds like that should EVER be given to a dog.

the only human meds our vet ever recommended was benadryl for allergies and this medicine called "ascriptin" for hip problems etc. DO NOT USE BABY ASPRIN either it can cause internal bleeding,

Please do not give any human drug to your dog until speaking with your vet first. Most vets have a 24 hr paging system so you can get a hold of someone after normal business hours. It sounds like you care about your dog being in pain, but please check with your vet first.
