Asta
was a dog movie-star in the golden age of the silver screen. You can say it comfortably regardless if you say it slowly or very quickly. And you won't offend any people because it is different than people's names. It can be insulting or confusing or embarrassing if you give your dog a human name, then someone important with the same name visits, or you talk about your dog and your freind or co-worker or boss thinks you're talking about her/him (or about their "significant other"). Also, it won't sound like words you normally use in conversation and confuse the dog.
Another theory is to use sharp vowels with dogs can respond to promptly, or try out a few choices, and see what name the dog responds to the best. That worked for my cat, it only responded positively to one word/name, ignored others, so my cat chose its name.

If he has Pitbull in him you don't want an intimidating name because you don't want to encourage the stigma that Pitbulls are mean dogs. I personally like naming my animals after characters from movies or songs that I like.
