You bet is has. I found that I was looking for comfort in my food consumption. Know what? The more you eat, u gain then you feel bad about yourself and u get more depressed. When you find yourself wanting to eat, make yourself get up and walk, get away from the house. If you must eat, eat healthy.......Depression is funky, I suffered from it for years until I found out what caused my to be this way.....

I do this too, esp with chocolate and other junk food. NOT good, esp since I have diabetes!! It is called emotional eating. This can get out of control. What I have found out is that you first need to find out exactly what it is that is causing you to be sooooooo depressed, work on that instead of eating all the time, get some other things to do (volunteer, talk with friends and family, hobbies, etc), maybe talk with someone about all of it (such as your doctor), and get on with life. If it gets too bad, then definitely see a doctor to get some help.
I had a lot happen in the past year or so. Last year, I was married to a total loser, jerk, etc. I told him I was leaving him and he made my life a living hell as long as I stayed with him until I could leave, and even after that he harassed me to no end (until I got a restraining order). Good thing I had my job and my friends or else I wouldn't have made it! Then I met someone else and that relationship is still going strong. We are doing great! But, then I found out about 4 months after I left my ex that he found out what my address was (the courts screwed up and gave it to him), so my boyfriend and I moved in together (this was the 3rd move in 4 months for me). Then, in April of this year, I lost my job. Not fun!! Then, right before we moved last month, my friend of 32 years told me off and gave up on our friendship. I was sooooooooooooooooo devastated!! Then moving the week after that happened! I was soooooooooooooooooooo deressed!! But, in time, I pulled out of it by keeping busy with unpacking, getting established here, etc. I also have friends and family to help me thru it.
Anyway, get the help of friends and family, talk to others, and work thru the depression. Then you will feel better and won't eat as much.

i understand about how you feel to a degree.
finding out people don't really want anything to do with people in wheelchairs, i try to get a job and people don't give me applications
i have been without work since March 06, had a job for 6 months before i was released
disabled from an accident (above the knee amputation) since April 05
almost lost my home because i was in the hospital for three months recovering and not income. July 05
lost my job after sixteen years after my accident had to resign because i could not do my primary job (drive) since Sept 05
fought for disability benefits since since April 05 and finally it starts this month.
i have to learn how to be independent again as a disabled person at the age of 45. i have to depend on a wheelchair, i am learning to walk again with a prosthetic.
well i lean toward chocolate.... love those Hersey's, but i rather eat then smoke. i plan on going back to school after i get more proficient with my prosthetic
try to get your resume out, good luck on finding a job, and i also find prating has helped me to. you have to be positive to proceed.

yep...I sure do eat more when I'm depressed....and usually it's sugary or high carb stuff...not good. I am a chocoholic and it kicks into overdrive when I am down. I've had this since I was a kid. I'm now 45 and am trying to get this under control. It's amazing how you can reach for junk food and not even realize it until your jeans won't zip anymore (I always blame the dryer for shrinkage!).

Depression actually has the oppisite effect on me. I stop eating. It is a problem for a lot of people and there is plenty of support out there for you. Sorry to hear about all that, that happened to me early this year, so I hope you get better soon!

Yes, I do eat more, it's sad. I found out, that if I take a walk, go to the library, shopping, find a hobby, do some volunteer work, helps a whole lot. Best of Luck

This has happened to me before and sometimes even when I am full I'll still continue to eat. Find some other way to relax besides eating and you should have nothing to worry about.

it depends on what i'm upset about, if its about my fiance, then i eat a lot. I guess a lot of girls do this because we walk around and whe're so concerned about looking skinny, eating nothing but salad and water, behaving like a lady. But when you get in a fight with someone who you want to look good for, you think "screw it" they dont want to pay attention to me so why should i try and be perfect? then you pig out. Society says woman have to look a certain way and when you dont fit into a size 2 jeans you should feel low about yourself. And i think thats why some girls eat a lot when they're stressed, because they feel low about themselves.

I either eat 2 pizzas at once or I am not hungry all day if I ever have a bad day or something just seems weird. I should probably eat something tonight here.
