I like what most of the people said so far about not worrying about it just yet. But if you really in a rush to get a girlfriend and see what all the talk is about my best advice is to be more open and to do things /hang out with people you normally would not hang out with or do.
When i was younger i was always very shy girls would tell me I'm nice and a gentleman but it wouldn't go any further. Only after i started going out to places i normally wouldn't like coffee shops or hang out places where a lot of teenagers like to go to. There is usually at least one place teenagers flock to on the weekends to hang out. Did i start opening up to the various types of people around me.
I started walking up to girls i never met before and just saying hello how are you and do some chit chat (one of the scariest things you will ever have to do for the first time). Every week i would just stay active talk to people who would usually not give me the time of day. Sooner or later i was able to go up to girls and chat with them and sit and just talk like it was nothing. My best accomplishment when i was younger i was with the captain of the soccer team in a coffee place where a lot of high school aged people like to hang out and he pointed out two girls who were really good looking. While he sat at the back i went up to them started talking to them we got a booth and sat down chatted for awhile i got their numbers and even introduced my friend after a few minutes. It helped me build a lot of confidence in my future attempts and even gave me a good rep around my high school.
But as was said earlier always be active smile and laugh and always try to be noticed, cause the main problem with guys like us is we don't get noticed. And I'm not mister smooth so don't take it like that it still depends on the enviornment and my current attitude, that will decide if ill be shy or open and forward with people. When you get older this problem will still pop up for you once in awhile where moments of shyness will just hit you, but with practice and some risk taking it will be easier and easier to bust out.

ok first of all chill out. a lot of people don't start dating at 15 yrs old
so don't get all depressed about it. one thing that i noticed when i was that age (15), the kids that are dating a lot (or at lleast a decent amount) are better looking and more capable socially than average looking people. Average people are coming to terms with puberty and are very self-concious as to who they are at that age and it stunts their ability to be confident and so forth.
my advice (and this is not shallow) is to find a girl that is very average or even a little over weight or not pretty at all and ask her out. It will be easier to ask her out and for the short term it give u companionship and most importantly it will give u more confidence because u will have dating experience.

man you are 15, you have your whole life ahead of you, just hang out with your friends, and aproach every girl you like, dont be thinking you are a loner just because you don't have a girlfriend, maybe there's something you are doing wrong, and "sweet" is not always a compliment, let girls see that you are confident don't be hard on yourself, and most important dont be shy!

Do what works.
If you aren't motivated to have a girlfriend, don't have one. No rush. Having a girlfriend doesn't make you into a special person. If you rush into a relationship, the girlfriend might annoy you because you are incompatible with her. Find a person who you like and who likes you for who you are. If no one fits the bill in your school, don't worry about it and just wait until after you graduate.

Build your skills and your talents and develop a life. There's plenty of time and you're a bit young, anyway for girls. Forget your friends and remember the tortoise and the hare. Become more successful than they are.

A tip for you...girls/women love to talk about themselves. If you want a girl to like you, find out what their interrests are, and talk about them...they will see that you are interrested in them and actually care what they have to say, and that will automatically make them interrested in you. It sounds simple...and it is. Good luck, and have fun. The right girl will come along someday...have fun weeding through all of the others, until she does. Stay safe and smile. Chicks love guys who smile and are relaxed.
