In Islam we believe that a person can attain higher status than the angels in the eyes of the God, at the same time man can degrade/be worse than the Satan.

Is there such thing in the people of the book? (i.e Christians & Jews)

Since mankind is created in the image of God we are already above the angels. God loves mankind more than the angels. We are His perfect creation, because we reflect God's image. Nobody has to attain that status, because it is already given to us. I am a Christian by the way. That is one reason why Satan fell. He did not want to serve and protect mankind. Satan accusation was that he was created before man and that he was conceived by fire, while mankind was conceived from clay.

We have a higher status, because mankind is given salvation and redemption. The angels do not have and will never be able to receive salvation or redemption. Once an angel commits a sin, he is cast out of Heaven and is now considered an enemy of God. they are created perfect without flaw. They are in God's presence, can physically see and hear Him, this is why they cannot receive salvation or redemption.

Satan didn't want to serve mankind, we wants to be an equal with God, which nobody will never be equal to God. Yes, we are created in God's image, but we will never be equal with God.

I know this is not a good source to look at, but read the Book of Adam and Eve, as well as the Book Of Enoch.

They are not in our Bible, which a lot of people don't know whether these two books are authentic or not. I believe them to be true, because they do answer a lot of questions pertaining to the hidden secrets of Heaven.

The Book of Adam and Eve talks about the angels fearing adam and eve, because when they looked at us, they saw the image of God. In The Book of Enoch, it talks about the fallen angels who committed sexual sins and that they seeked redemption from God. they went to Enoch, which enoch prayed to God, and God told him in a dream or vision that they cannot receive redemption.

I forgot to leave out FREE Will. mankind is given free will, the angels are not.

When a person decide to become a Christian instantaneous, he becomes higher than angels and can never be degrade irregardless of whatever happen later. I do not know of anything can beat that or better. look at "the Acts Of The Apostles" chapter 2:38 and do it by faith.

That is a good question: I think when I die and go to be with God I will be in spirit form like the angels but, on a different level. Because he created them to be with him in Heaven and he created man to be on Earth and have free will. Later to be in Heaven and join the family of God.

In the eyes of Judaism, man is favored by god and he's the "lords of creation", while the angels serve god and make any sort of task for him.

The word angel in Hebrew is "Mal'ach", and it comes from the word "Melacha", means labor. They appear in the bible as "messengers", and the late feature of them as winged, haloed pure creatures is exclusively Christian.

in Judaism many inteperet it as man being above angels to begin with, as we were given the torah and free will and such.

as far as I've ever heard, Judaism doesn't really deal with that much at all.

but it does allow for the idea, and personally I see it as such.

In Christianity and Judiasm Humankind is greater than angels. Humankind is only second to God(in Judiasm) and God/Christ/Holy Spirit (in Christianity)

Too late...the Bible teaches that God made us greater (in position) than the angels.

Christians are saved by grace, through faith...not works, lest any man should boast (Romans 4.)
