I've read that bed skirts are out (yeah, like we all pay attention to that!). Regardless, I hate them anyway - they collect pet hair and dust, they make it a pain in the butt to change sheets and so on. So, I'm looking for creative ideas on what else to do. I have a coverlet that doesn't cover the box spring section, and that does look pretty bad! Pretty coverlet, nice decorative pillows and then seeing the metal mattress frame and the box springs. Help!

I have always hated bed skirts, and am thrilled to know that they're out!!! Woohoo!!

I've actually been considering making a cover out of wood. I was thinking that it wouldn't be too difficult to have thin plywood cut to the appropriate size, then "upholstering" it to coordinate with the bedding. The pieces could be attached to each other with nails, with upholstery tacks over them for the aesthetics.

This would also help to avoid things accidentally going under the bed. I might have to leave some room for the cats to get in, though! :)

Boy, I hear that...I have a very high bed and nothing covers the box spring. I am going to get a beautiful bedspread (probably will have to go King size since my bed is Queen). You could always try a large sheet that blends with your comforter. A lot of people do that but my sheets are not long enough. Hope you find something you like. There are some sites on line that offer large bedspreads as well.

A fitted sheet that coordinates w/your linens over the box spring works great.

I like the wood idea. I'd probably take it down to the floor, myself- to keep the cats out! Hard to vacuum under there, and bailing them out when you are trying to take them to the vet or something!
