colds are viral so there is no cure and antibiotics will not work to treat it-antibiotics only treat bacterial infections

you need to eat something that will help absorb the excess medication and acid in your stomach that is causing it to be upset. try things like toast with a small amount of butter, saltine crackers or ritz crackers.

when i have a cold i do these things:
-dayquil for when i need to be up during the day-it works great. it dries up my nose and helps soothe my sore throat and quiets my cough.
-nyquil at night-helps your sleep and stop your symptoms
-use a warm mist humidifier in your room at nite ( this keeps the air moist and prevents your nose from getting plugged up and also keeps your throat from drying out-making it less sore)
-suck on ice cubes and hard candies to relieve your sore throat
-gargle with salt water (2tsp of salt to 8oz water)
-drink hot tea w/honey-it will help your sinuses and soothe your sore throat

make sure to drink plenty of fluids but avoid things with alot of caffeine-it's a diuretic which means it will make you lose more fluid, putting you at higher risk for dehydration. sprite, gatorade, and water work best

hope you feel better soon

Try rubbing vicks on your throat, chest and have someone rub some on your back. Boil some water in a medium size pot, once it starts to boil, grab a towel and hang your head over the pot and cover yourself with the towel that will clear up your runny nose as you inhale the steam. Snorting salt water like the above answer is good too. And last good old chicken soup does the trick along with room temperature 7-UP!

Hope you feel better soon.

Oh dear! For one thing, be very careful about medicines!

Tea is usually safe. Or hot lemon and honey, or hot buoillon. Steam seems to help me with the runny nose and to a lesser extent the sore throat. Try zinc or ricola lozenges to help with the throat too. And extra vitamin C and garlic tablets seem to help with colds.

Good luck and feel better!

Sore throat and runny nose are indications some parts of your body have inflammation. Some of the best ani-inflammation food are apple, whole oat (not Cheerios). Must stay away from sugar, fried and greasy food. Drink a lot of water. This should keep you feel better and stop inflammation.

For sore throats and for runny noses I use warm salt water. For the throat I gargle with it and for the runny nose I snort a bit of it. The salt water goes into the sinus cavities and cleans them out. You just blow your nose and it all comes out along with lots of junk. Do it a couple of times a day and your cold will disappear in no time.

If you just want to kill the pain in your throat just swallow some honey. It coats your throat for a while. Be sure to brush your teeth though.
