Eating one big meal puts your body in "starvation" mode; your metabolism will slow down because your body attempts to store the food for as long as possible.
The opposite is true of eating small meals; your metabolism will speed up (in fact, you should eat 6 small meals a day).

Your body needs to be fed more than once per day for several reasons. You can compare your body to an automobile. When your car is filled with gas, it has energy to burn, whenever it needs to use it. When your gas tank is empty, you stop in your tracks, at a standstill.
When you eat on a regular basis, your body burns nutrients more efficiently than if you eat once per day. Also, your blood sugar levels are going to be very low when you only eat once per day. You might be so hungry when you finally do eat, that you gorge yourself, which sends blood sugars into an unhealthy level, also.
If you are trying to lose weight, eating five or six times per day is best because your body's metabolism kicks in when you eat. So if you eat six times per day (light, healthy meals) you will lose weight faster and in a more healthy way, than if you eat only three (or one) meals per day.
Your brain and organs need a constant source of energy to keep your system working properly. If your body is not getting what it needs to run properly, you will feel tired and lethargic.
Hope this helps!

If you don't eat often enough, your body thinks it's starving, so when you DO eat, it stores up all the calories that you do eat, instead of burning them off like you want it to.
You need food to use for energy, and eating once a day, no matter how much you eat that one time, means during the rest of the day your body is not getting enough energy,

Eating more often boosts your metabolism. When you only eat once, your body goes into a starvation mode because it doesn't know when it will get its next meal. It holds on to everything you eat.

Everytime you eat, your body converts food into sugar, which is taken into the blood. Your pancreas then releases insulin to bring your blood sugar level (B.S.L.) down to normal again. If you eat large meals all the time(especially if they are high in calories and sugar), your body produces too much insulin, which can eventually lead to insulin resistance, where your body doesn't respond as well this hormone and has to release even more insulin to bring your B.S.L. down to normal, and type II diabetes.

this is bad because if you eat ionce a day in the afternoon you will be very tired because you used up all your energy, if you eat 3 times a day you will not be tired because once you start feeling a little tired it s lunch.
Yummmmmmm! :)

It's bad, because your body will slow down its metabolism... it's getting the message that there is no food to metabolize.... but if you eat small meals, your metabolism will stay up... and remains good, if you add exercise to eating sensibly.

if you constantly has small meals then your body is used to constantly breaking down foods and metabolizing them. to keep your metabolism up i would recommend a few small meals a day instead of just one. just one big meal will lump alot on a system that's not used to working constantly and will end up storing what it thinks it may not need. it will be stored as fat and we don't like that f word, do we?
