You don't have to tell them---you need to get help. Go see your doctor and tell him/her so they can get you to the right program.

Unfortunately any self harming behaviour is secretive and personal to the person that is doing it. Generally cutting and burning etc can be well hidden under clothes, and indeed it is not a visible behaviour to others. Anorexia and bulimia on the otherhand is only invisible to a certain extent because of the exact things that you have mentioned, and of course the evident weight loss. Whether or not you decide to tell these people comes with risks. Firstly, you don't know how people are going to react towards you. Not everybody is understanding towards mental disorders, and some people may even shun you. That unfortunately is generally linked to their own fears of not knowing what to say to you, or perhaps having their own issues with food, and secondly by telling others you are making yourself extremely vulnerable and open to other people. Sadly, some people prey on other peoples weaknesses, and as a precaution I would say to you, be careful. Do you have anybody at work that you are close to? Perhaps you could start off by telling them. You also say that you are worried they will talk about you behind your back. I think that at the moment they are probably speculating about you. If you tell them then they will talk about you behind your back. This may make you feel even more insecure, paranoid and upset. Think long and hard about this. Are you receiving any therapy for your disorder? If not, maybe you could set something up and talk this through with a therapist, therefore if you do decide to tell and everything turns out wrong you have got somewhere to take it, rather than dealing with it on your own. I wish you all the best.

You have taken the first step, which is the hardest. You have admitted your problem. OK, so its an anonymous place where you hide behind a screenname, but its still good.
Now, how about admitting that in the privacy and succlusion of a Drs Surgery. Tell them you are scared you need help, and what you have told us. The Doc will advise you what to do.
You need to eat, both for Mental reasons (To fight the condition) and Physical (Your body needs strength). I know a friend similarly fighting the urge to starve to loose weight, and I encouraged to start eating one Cereal bar a day, and keep it down. She did not beleive it would help, but she trusted me.
When she started it, it took the whole day to nibble and swallow the whole bar, but eventually, she started to eat it, and then she started to add a few other things, fruit, vegetables.
She still is battling ED's, and she is winning, but she is eating some things to give her the basic energy she needs. If she keeps going, she will win.
I hope you win too, good luck.

Just explain the situation to the nicest person there. They will help you explain it to the boss - make it clear that your condition will not interfere with your work and that you have it under control.
Have you tried drinking fruit juice? It is very good at keeping you alive and healthy while you can't really put on weight by drinking it (unless you drink 2 gallons of it a day or something silly). It is well worth drinking a few glasses of fresh fruit juice every day.
I hope your condition improves and you do well in your job.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to eat without worrying about your weight? To treat food as fuel? Don't worry about what people think, just get some help. Go to your doctor and see if you can get booked into a clinic.

I think you should tell people to help them help you. Just say that you have a problem and you need their help. Only tell who you want to.
