It sounds very odd indeed! If you want to keep the dog, take him to the vet ASAP. Otherwise, call the breeder and check with them regarding the return policy. All puppies play. They generally play for short periods of time and then nap. (much like kids). The fact that he does NOTHING is concerning. Good Luck

Give the poor thing a few days to adjust. How would you feel if you were ripped away from your parents and siblings and tossed into a whole new environment.

If after a few days the pup hasn't perked up then call the breeder and contact you vet to see if there may be something physically wrong with him.

Poodles like many "pure bred" breeds are alot of time irresponsibly bred by owners (ie: inbreeding, bred with "bad quality" dogs, or bred with sick dogs) If your just looking for a good pet that's fine, any kind of dog can make a wonderful companion. But make sure your dog was bred by a reputable breeder and wont become ill due to a heredity disease of some sort caused by those common breeding problems.

Didn't I just answer this question?

Give the pup a day or two to adjust to being seperated for the first time from its litter mates, to get use to you and its new surroundings. Not to mention it is probably tired out from you trying to drag it outside to go on a walk and trying to get it to play with its toys. New puppies are hard to just leave alone, but you can't over do it...give it time to adjust.

When I got my Standard pup, he was real mellow for the first few days, then he got settled in and he started being more active.

You really should have the dog checked at by a vet within 3 days of buying it anyhow..this applies to all dogs, sick or not. Usually "real breeders" will have in their contract a certain amount of time for you to take the pup to the vet to be sure it is healthy. They will also guarantee the dog for LIFE from any genetic problems. They will also be happy to answer any questions and concerns you may have about the pup.
If the pup is eating, drinking and going potty, then more than likely it is fine. Give it a couple days.

i've got in no way considered the questions you describe, and that i can not think of why one does no longer desire a poodle. i can not get one because of the fact they require extra exercising than i can dish out, yet they have great temperaments and are between the finest canines to coach! and such as you suggested, they arrive in 3 valid sizes! Do you think of consistent with probability the persons asking those questions you communicate of have been adult males? consistent with probability they do no longer in basic terms like the look of Poodles, thinking they are going to be teased for figuring out in this way of "female" breed. this is the only reason i can think of of.

Take him to the vet. there is an influenza virus that is fatal to dogs and it is spreading. It seems to be attacking breeding facilities, shelters.
