This might be your cat's way of feeling closer to you when you are absent. My cat always lays on top of my suitcase whenever I have it out the night before a business trip to pack. I think of it as his way of telling me not to go anywhere, or to take him with me.

The cat might simply be attracted to your smell (I assume that it likes you), or it might be trying to tell you something.

On the other hand, it may simply like to lay on your clothes and finds them more comfortable.

My orange cat, Mr. Bojangles does that ALL the time. His favorite thing to do is sleep in the laundry pile. But if a nice clean outfit is laid out, that's the first thing he's on. I think it's because cats notice how clean and nice they are and it's like sitting on a little bed just for them. Wouldn't you do the same if you were a cat?

I wish I knew why they do that. Mine do too.
The only answer I can come up with is that they like the way they feel, or they like to smell you.
My cat will even lay on my book if I sit it on the bed. LOL

He loves you. And, he likes to lay on different types of surfaces. Slightly uneven clothes are more like the slightly uneven ground he'd lay on outdoors. You know how he does a 1/2 circle before he lays down sometimes? That's to smooth out the imaginary long grass before he hits the hay.

My cats and dogs for that matter do the same thing. I feel like it is because my clothes smell like me and that comforts them. One of my dogs gathers all my socks that may be laying around and brings them to her bed at night to sleep with. Crazy animals.

ok does he do it only to your clothes, and lays on just your bed? It could be that he loves you so much he lays on these items because your scent is on them.or it could be the way the clothes feels. It really is hard to tell with cats,as soon as you think you have them figured out they change.

You have a cat!!! Its just a cat kinda thing, mine will lay on anything as long as they feel comfortable its all fair game. So if you don't want the cat on it hang it up put it in a drawer or someplace they cant get it. Regards KG

My cat does that too. I think she is looking for the very most soft and special place to sleep because she's a Queen.

He likes your scent, he's claiming you as belonging to him. Don't feel bad, my cats do that too, so I have learned to be careful not to leave anything lay that I don't want them to lay on. It has made me a neat and tidy person.
