Hi,
Actually.......Everything God does is for a reason. No mistakes.
SO THE SCRIPTURES ARE ACCURATE(100% that is)
Heres the thing.
This was a foreshadowing of something to come in the future.
You see....
Jesus is the only son of God.
He was to be sacrificed by the Father.
Issaac was the promised ONE from God.
Abraham knew that "if" he killed his ONLY SON, that GOD WOULD BRING HIM BACK TO LIFE, >>>BECAUSE OF HIS PROMISE TO HIM<<<
The 2 sons are examples of Gods people. GODS SONS THAT IS.
THOSE THAT BELIEVE ARE CALLED SONS OF GOD.
FORESHADOWING AGAIN.
1)CHILD IS OF THE PROMISE.
2)OTHER BORN NOT IN THE WILL OF GOD, BUT WILL RECEIVE BLESSING IN THE FUTURE.

ONE CHILD RECIEVED ONE SENT AWAY FOR A TIME.
GOD WILL RESTORE HIS SON.(THE ONE WHO OBEYED HIM.....you know got up on the alter and all-and told his Father it is ok, to make him a LIVING SACRIFICE.)
THE FIRST SON(JEWS-EXAMPLE OF) THEY REJECTED HIM... SO LATER(AFTER THE RAPTURE) THE JEWS/OTHER SON...WILL RETURN TO THE FATHER AND WANT TO GIVE THEIR LIVES TOO, FOR THE FATHER(GOD/JESUS/HOLY GHOST).
*GET IT? I HOPE SO MY FRIEND.
God bless you as you seek the truth(kjbible) -LIVE4TRUTH=]

Ishmael was born before Isaac. Abramham did have two sons. Ishmael is the father of the Arabic nation and Isaac is the father of the Jews/Irasel. The two of the them always fought each other. well Ishmael hated Isaac because he Isaac was the favorite son who was born from Sarah. Why do you think the two nations have been fighting ever since then? Because both of the founding fathers have fought each other. God was testing Abraham to see if Abraham loved God more than his son, Isaac. Abraham was about to sacrifice his son, but right before his hand came down, an angel of the Lord grabbed his hand. Abraham passed the test, therefore, he would receive a great blessing!

Ishmael was long gone with his mother by the time this has happened. Hagar took Ishmael back with her to her home country which was Egypt. Thus, that is where Ishmael got involved into worshipping other gods and following the Egyptian beliefs. The blessing was to come from Abraham, Sarah, and Isaac. If Abraham would of been patient and listen to God, Ishmael would of never been born and this whole mess between the waring nations would of never happened.

Ismael was born first but he was banished when Isaac was born because Sarah thought he would steal the honors from her son, Isaac. Therefore Hagar and Ismael were broken off and later became the Ismaelites.

God made it clear that Isaac was the heir. While Ishmael may have been the biological offspring of Abraham, Isaac was the one that was the recognized one.

well, not long before, but 13 years before i believe. but that's why god makes it clear that abraham was to offer isaac (this commandment was given well after hagar was thrown out). god never actually told abraham to sacrifice isaac, only "raise him as an offering" so when abraham was told to stop, god was not changing his mind.

Correct.
However, Ishmael was not God's promised son. This is often referred to in the New Testament. Ishmael is a "type" of man's answer to problems where Issac is a "type" of God's way. I guess Ishmael is not counted.

G-d said "Your son"
Abraham: I have 2
G-d: Your only
A: Each is 'only' to his mother
G-d: The one you love
A: I love both
G-d: I mean Isaac!
G-d said Isaac, to clarify his command.

yes, but he didn't really care about Ishmael as much, because he wasn't from his wife.

remember the line in the book... he tries to get out of it by using that logic, and god says no, the son you love, or somethingto that effect.

"you should take your son, your only one, the one you love, Issac"

G-d told Abraham to take his son, so Abraham says "I have 2 sons" so g-d tells him "your only one" so Abraham says "both of them are the only one from their mothers" so g-d tells him "the one you love" so Abraham says "I love both of them" so g-d say "Issac"

He was the offspring of a slave thus also a slave and not a true son.
