I have been on about 5 dates in the past couple of months with this woman. There was a lag of a couple of weeks with family issues etc...anyhow, regardless of that we have for the most part been in constant telephone conversations each night. On my last date with her we exhchanged our first kiss...now when do I know if we are in a relationship

You know you are in a relationship when you both have fun things you could go out and do, but you hang around at home together and do...nothing....and enjoy it.
I must clarify that this does not apply in any way to cyber-dating. It has to be the real thing....cyber-relationships do not work.

Sounds like you have a relationship. The question is, are you seeing each other exclusively?
Perhaps if you would like her not to date anyone else, and you don't want to date anyone else, you can bring it up to her that she is special and go from there

you are in a "relationship" when you have had a discussion about not dating other people and just dating each other. until then you are casually dating and there isn't anything expected of you except for you to show up for your date on time.
