Dear frut01,
Here are a couple of points you want to keep in mind while reading Leviticus 15:
i. It is important for us to regard these laws of cleanliness in a New Testament perspective. In Mark 7:1-9 Jesus criticized the Pharisees for their over-emphasis on ceremonial cleanliness and their lack of regard for internal cleanliness. These laws were meant to have both hygienic reasons and spiritual applications; they were never intended as the way to be right with God.
ii. In Acts 15, the early Christian community properly discerned the work and will of God in the New Covenant: that under the New Covenant, the believer was not bound to these laws of ritual purity. One could be a follower of Jesus without the ritual conformity to the Mosaic Law.
iii. Yet we need to remember that spiritual cleanliness in worship is important today. We also remember that Jesus is the One who makes us clean and fit for fellowship: You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you (John 15:3). As we receive from the Word of God, we are being cleansed.
iv. Our cleanliness is complete as we abide in Jesus: 1 John 1:7-9 - But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
Hope that helps,
Nickster

First you should have prayed before you read it to get a spiritual understanding. Chapter 15 deals with male and female uncleanness caused by bodily discharge or emission of semen. female period or lengthy hemorrhaging. Bodily discharge probably either can be diarrhea or urethral discharge or various kinds of infections. The buttocks or genitals or the most dangerous parts and must be taken care. A woman is unclean for seven days out of the month and should not be touched during this point of her life. If so the man is defiled and a infection can occur. The blood from the women's body is releasing infection and unwanted matter from the women's body.

I think you will find much of the Book of Leviticus is about the ceremonial law of the temple worship. I think if you read it objectively you will find not only "women" but also men, esp. the priests, can be clean or unclean (unclean from touching dead bodies, etc.) and that there are rituals for being cleansed.
I really don't understand all of it; probably those that are training for the future temple might better understand. I think, though, it has to do with the Holiness, Righteousness, etc. of God and that ,at least ceremonially, God's people are to be ceremonially clean too ... and, hopefully, not only ceremonially.
Isn't that what the ceremonial baths, sprinkling of blood, etc. is all about?

For a book like Leviticus, I'd recommend a good study BIble. It's a tough book to get through. It's very much a book of rules and regulations. It's not where I would recommend a new Christian start. (or even someone who is just curious)

Women were less than dirt in those days. They had no rights to speak up. They never argued with their husbands. They didn't get flowers for their birthdays or anniversary. It is still like that in the Middle East.
And at that time, a woman was seen as being more unclean than usual while she was having her period. They were still considered dirty for a certain period After her period. I don't remember for how long.

This is to protect the health of women. Remember that most of these Laws were given to the priests, the Levites, to direct Israel and most had to do with their health. Remember that bathing was not a common event because of their environment. Women with blood issue could easily contract infection if they were not segregated from sexual intercourse. Women are not disrespected. They were honored. Remember that God created Eve because it was not good for man to be alone. They were treasured as the mothers of Israel whom God promised to make a great nation. If you read these Laws given to the Levites as pertaining to the prosperity and health of Israel, it will help you to make sense of it in the context with which it was intended.

they are part of spiritual impurity because blood as a liquid imparts impurity (as do other bodily fluids which cause a man to be unclean). it isn't easy, but you can take classes or read books like Waters of Eden to help you understand it.

Those are a lot of rules for Hebew priests. The Levites. They don't apply to you and I. They are for the special priests of God. Those who are set aside to handle the Ark of the Covenant.
