i live in jamaica and it gets really hot sometimes, so some good up-do's would be nice, too. btw, i have straight, shoulder-length hair. i'm kinda tired of pulling my hair back into a rubber band everyday. step-by-step instuctions would be nice, too.

take your straitener and as you pull it down your hair, slightly pull it tward you and curl your hair then put hair spray on it, yeah !! now it looks like you just blow dried it but it only took like 15 minutes!!
NO NEVERMIND READ THIS PART!!!!!
but you said it was hot so put your hair in a high ponytale then mess with it and twist it like in a bun. then take another pony tail holder and wrap it around your messed up bun, then add bobby pins to secure any loose partsand yeah!!! you're pretty !!!!

put in to a " poof ", and then into a pony tail. to do a poof, all you do is take a small section of your hair and pull it forward so that it looks kinda like a bubble. [ put in bobby pins to make it stay]

Have you considered trimming your hair? Otherwise an updo is really your only choice other than a ponytail or braid. Ask your hairdresser. Think Audrey Hepburn. (I should have your problems.)

my fave is to take the front area of your hair (like the bangs) and positioned them back and maintain w/a bobby pin or 2. Create slightly poof w/the bangs. i'm getting compliments each and every time. it is so basic.
