Ive heard that 289's and 302's heads are interchangable but I just wanted to make sure that heads from a 65 will fit a 70.

yes because they are the same block the only difference on these two motors are the stroke. Go ahead a bolt those heads onto the 302 you will see a difference in power. Those 289 have smaller cc's so it will increase your compression ratio which means more power and better response. just do me a favor when your doing the head swap clean clean clean the surfaces good. Clean all bolts and bolt holes or you will run into problems. Its not a hard job to do and go buy yourself the MR. Gasket gasket set. Ive use Felpro but I tell you what Ive had problems with Felpro but not Mr. Gasket plus its cheaper too trust me.

Yes they WILL fit, BUT, 289 heads will raise your 302's compression. 289 heads have smaller valves and ports than 302 and don't flow as well. I would fit 351cleveland heads with a boss manifold. Check out alloy clevo heads MADE IN AUSTRALIA at http://www.chiheads.com/

We used to do this type of thing, but as best I remember, it is a different block, bolt holes may not match up without an adaptor kit. I think you may have some trouble. Let me know how it goes...doctorjlong@yahoo.com

YES- the only difference is smaller compresson chambers, which will give you better compression
