This is nothing new and trendy, it has been taught by the church for a long time. Other verses mention regeneration. The expression 'born again' is a short expression that covers certain descriptions in Isaiah, Ezechiel, and several epistles in the New Testament. Perhaps we need to be a little more creative and varied in the expressions we use - because different people will understand different expressions. But it is definitely not a trendy fad.
