I agree; I'm 5 foot 3 inches, and it's hard for me to operate the stretcher sometimes. It's much easier if you are taller. I couldn't imagine doing the job and only being 4 feet tall. Even if you are strong enough to lift the 300 lb patient, you would be too short to lift the stretcher more than 3 feet or so, and it needs to be lifted much higher just to slide in the ambulance.
Have you considered emergency nursing? Same adrenaline rush, but you won't be stuck being the only other person on an ambulance. It's a much more controlled environment, and you will be able to take the time to get lifting assistance, etc.
How about being a paramedic, but try to find an employer that does not require lifting? There are jobs like that out there, but they are few and far in between. It doesn't mean that you can't find them, though.
Hope this helps!

If you are a dwarf shouldn't you know how to spell it? The only way to become a paramedic is to apply.

If you are a dwarf, you may have a problem passing any physical agility exam. You have to be able to do certain physical tasks. Carrying a stretcher down stairs is one of those chores. I am sorry to say that you may not make it, but EMS is one of those career that does not have to give "reasonable accommodations."
