Strep throat is most common in children between the ages of 5 and 15, although it can happen in younger children and adults. Children younger than 3 can get strep infections, but these usually don't affect the throat.
Strep throat is most common in the late fall, winter, and early spring. The infection is spread by person-to-person contact with nasal secretions or saliva, often among family or household members.
People with strep throat get sick 2–5 days after they are exposed. The illness usually begins suddenly, with a fever that peaks on the second day. Many also have sore throat, headache, stomachache, nausea, or chills.
In some people, strep throat is very mild, with only a few of these symptoms. In others, strep throat is severe. There are many strains of strep. Some strains produce toxins that can lead to a scarlet fever rash. This rash is thought to be an allergic reaction to the toxins. Untreated, strep throat can sometimes lead to rheumatic fever. Kidney complications are among the other possibilities.

yes, actually it is very contagious. it's in the throat no secret there, and can be spread by coughing or sneezing. It's primarily among small children or teens and is worse in large groups or confined spaces. The bacteria is on their hands when they sneeze, and then they touch someones hand and that person touches his face or wipes his nose and, bango that's it.
It can last weeks or more and if you get it you're miserable. It's easily treated with antibiotics however. If someone you know has it, run. Give him a Kleenex. if you get it make sure all your dishes clothes utensils glasses are kept separately and see your doctor. Good luck. ACHOO unnngch

In most cases a strep throat is extremely contageous. However sometimes when the symptoms are mild, with no fever, no feeling really sick, just feeling light discomfort for a really long time, like a couple of months or so, it can be not contageous.

yes, but you can only get it by eating or drinking after someone who has strep or from someone who has strep coughing on you. Basically stuff like that. It's nothing to get all worried about.
