Ping Pong Puzzler?

Question

You are in a room that is an 8x8x8 perfect cube. There are no windows, or doors (don't ask me how you got in there). In the center of the floor there is a 12 inch pipe that is sticking 6 inches out of the floor. In the bottom of the pipe is a ping pong ball with a diameter that is one millimeter smaller than the inner diameter of the pipe.

You have a 12 inch piece of string, a match, a magnifying glass, a 6" ruler and a paper clip.

How do you get the ping pong ball out of the hole?

you hook the paper clip to the string at one end put the match in to the paper clip so it holds tight. tie the other end of the string to the ruler light the match Then quickly ,while using the magnifying glass to look down hole to see,you burn a hole in the ping pong ball,hook it with the paper clip & pullit out very slowly.

tie the string on the ruler and the paperclip on the other end of the string. Use the magnifying glass to see what you are doing and very carefully stick the match in the paperclip so it is secure and straight. Very gentaly burn a hole through the ping pong ball until it goes all the way through. Then carefully hook the ball with the paperclip (might have to put ruler a little bit into pipe at this point) and pull ball out.

You make a hook with the paper clip, attatch it to the string, tie the string to the ruler (like a fishing rod), light the match and magnify the light from the match to burn a hole in the ping pong ball. hook the ping pong ball on the paper clip.
