Yum Yum, oh yes that sweet boiled potato. You can part boil them and then roast them or cut them into chips (English style) and then deep fry them serve with a pinch of salt, part boil them and slice them accross the middle so you have circles, sprinkle with oil and salt and bake untill crisp for a heathy snack, or do the same but put the layers of sweet potato on top of a casserol or pie and bake untill the potato absorbs the jucies under the slice and goes crisper on top, or mash the boiled potato, mix in fried chopped onins and cheese, place in a pastry case sprinkle lots more grated cheese on top and bake untill cheese is golden brown. Whatever you do always part boil your sweet potato first, to get a nice texture with your finished result. Umm!!!

How to Cook Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes were first introduced to the rest of the world when Columbus brought them over from the island of Saint Thomas. You can bake 'em, boil 'em, microwave 'em.... Just about anything you can do with a potato, you can do with a sweet potato. Below are four ways to go.
Steps
Bake sweet potatoes in their jackets. Wash, cut off the ends and bake in a preheated 400 degree F oven for 40 to 60 minutes (depending on the size of the potatoes and how firm you want them to be). Bake the potatoes on a baking sheet; the sugars in the potatoes can drip out and burn on the floor of your oven.
Roast peeled chunks of sweet potatoes with onions in a 400 degree F oven for 40 to 60 minutes. Drizzle a little olive oil on the potatoes first.
Boil or steam peeled or unpeeled sweet potatoes, either cut into chunks or not, until tender. The time will vary depending on the size of the potatoes or chunks - from 5 minutes for small chunks to 30 minutes for whole potatoes.
Wrap peeled or unpeeled sweet potatoes loosely in plastic wrap (prick with a fork in a few places first) and microwave 10 to 15 minutes or until tender. (Use the Potato setting if your microwave has one.)
Mash cooked sweet potato and blend with butter and a little milk for a smooth puree. Add brown sugar plus cinnamon, cloves or ginger if you wish. A well-cooked sweet potato will mash almost instantly with just a fork.
There are several kinds of sweet potato. You're most likely to see the light yellow, drier variety, and a darker, moister, sweeter variety, often mislabeled as a yam. You can use either variety of sweet potato, moist or dry, in recipes, but not both together, as they have different cooking times. The dry variety cooks more quickly than the moist variety.

I wash and dry sweet potatoes. Wrap in heavy foil individually and bake in a 400' oven same as Irish potaotes.
I also peel and slice sweet potatoes. I fry them in a combo of margarine and canola oil. When they are done, you can sprinkle them with the following: cinnamon, pancake syrup, and/or brown sugar. I don't use sugar so I add Smucker's sugar free breakfast syrup to mine.
You can also mash boiled sweet potatoes and then make a sweet potato pie using the same method as a pumpkin pie.

If you ever taste sweet potato pie, you'll never go back to pumpkin
pie. The flavor is so much better.
you can make pies
fry like regular french fries
make a casserole
cook with turnips
bake like regular potatoes (just oil the outsides but don't wrap with foil like a regular potato)
I like to candy them with simple syrup, and sprinkle with cinnamon
fry sweet potato wedges and sprinkle with sugar....yum

they're lovely mashed-you can combine them with parsnips, carrots and swede for instance with a little butter, salt and pepper. Baked is great, they go all caramelly and similarly roasted sweet potatoes are delicious. Treat them as you would ordinary potatoes, although they cook slightly faster. The orange fleshed sweet pot is tastiest-organic better still.
