You should begin by taking on new household tasks (keeping your room tidy, dishes, lawn care.. ask your parents if there are any jobs that you can start doing)... if your parents see that you are being more responsible they may open up to the idea, remembering that you arent only doing these tasks to get a dog, but to show that you are ready for more responsibility.... in fact even after agreeing to allow you to have a dog you should remain doing these jobs while you have the added responsibilities of caring for your pooch.
At the same time however, if you do not keep up on these tasks it will show your parents that you will most likely care for a pet in the same way.. very well at first then slack off...
Parents are often afraid to get pets because they know it will often become YET another job for them..... the only way to change their minds is to PROVE you are ready for one =)
If it is money, and your parents do not wish to contribute, I suggest taking on odd jobs from relatives and FAMILY friends or if you are old enough to babysit start saving your $$$ to show them that you are willing to purchase it on your own.. if you but it with money you earned, you will appreciate it far more.
Best of luck

You would have to show your parents that you can be responsible and take care of your dog without being nudged the whole way. Be polite and don't nag: Not only will that not get you a dog, that will make your parents mad.
You'll need to talk with your parents about the kind of care the dog will need: Food, shots, neutering or spaying, and other care if the dog should get sick or hurt.
You'll probably want a short-haired dog. Poodles and poodle-cross dogs don't shed much, nor do chihuahuas. Before you actually go out looking for a puppy or dog, check your local SPCA: They tend to have a lot of perfectly good dogs whose former owners simply couldn't take care of them. And you might even be able to get a break on the price of shots and neutering or spaying.
Good luck!

Don't, its really not fair to the dog. what if it ends up doing something bad, or maybe you do, either way, they could take it to the shelter to "teach you a lesson" which is wrong. Also what about when you move out or go to college? are your parents going to be stuck with a dog they didn't want in the first place because you cant take it? If I was you I would wait until I got my life settled and then think about getting a dog. I'm really sorry, because I know what its like to REALLY want a dog and not be able to have one. And I know that it seems like forever but if you really cared about the dog the you would wait. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Poodle is the smartest dog, and non allergenic. You would have to take it for regular grooming though and this would cost money.
The things that you need to consider before getting a dog are this:
Can you afford regular grooming, annual vaccinations, license fees, emergency health care, food toys, special fencing etc?
Getting a dog is like adding a child to your family. Are you prepared to provide daily for the dogs basic needs, exercise, fresh air, love, and training with patience?
Do you have the time available, and willing and able to devote the time?
THIS IS A LIFETIME COMMITMENT, YOU CANT CHANGE YOUR MIND ONCE YOU HAVE THE DOG- if you changed your mind you would break the dogs heart if they had to leave cause they become very attached. Maybe there is a reason among these that your parents wont allow you to have a dog.
