Is it a feeling? A long-standing tradition? Your reasoned decision after exploring other options? Your acceptance of the reasoning performed by others? Or some other enticement to believe?

Christians believe the Bible, because it was accepted as canonical by the early Church. This is important, because, more than following a book, Christians want to follow Jesus, and these people lived closer to Jesus than do we.

You were close when you suggested "long-standing tradition".

That being said, there is no real reason that Christians should not seek wisdom and inspiration from the texts of other religions, from science, or from world history. There is truth outside of the Bible, obviously.

We believe the words of The Book because they have proven themselves to be true and accurate. The Prophecies that have already been fulfilled are enough to prove it's worth.
You've got the Pentatuch, cannot you see the prophecies in those five books as having been fulfilled?
