Why wouldn't one prayer be enough?

It isn't that one would not be enough, but it is the belief that one person cannot make a difference. The Christ said it is done unto us as we believe. So the belief that there is strength in numbers translates to prayer. Everything is energy, including prayer. Where two or more are gathered there is a concentration of energy...if you could believe enough, you by yourself could generate the same prayer energy as a group of people praying. But most people don't believe they can be as strong as a group, so they are not.

God hears every prayer. The Bible says that where 2 or more are gathered together that God is in the midst of them. There is a lot of power in agreement and in unity, but don't stop praying thinking that your prayers are not effective. The Bible also says that the effective, fervent prayer of the righteous avails much. The key to all prayers is faith. It just really helps to have someone in agreement with you.

Yo, angelhunter person sounds a bit confused. If you are testing God by taking "controlled studies" of the effectiveness of prayer, I do not think that God will answer those prayers. To have a prayer answered you must have faith. That means not having the desire to test God. I agree with those answers that mention the gathering of two or more. And remember, Jesus prayed alone and with his disciples.

It wouldn't. Every controlled study on the effects of prayer, individual or group, has conclusively shown that prayer directed at another has no effect whatsoever.

Is it quality, or quantity? Does sincerety come into play? And most of all, what work has been done, what sacrifice been made? The entire world has seen the tragedy of the Amish girls by now, how many people have heard God's prayers?

One cand send a Thousand Away, TWO can send 10 Thousand.
The Power goes up by 10, everytime you add a Believer to the Prayer.
Thats why satan keeps the Children of GOD Divided.(religions etc.).

very interesting question, it seems the more requests are made the more likely that it will be that its not for personal reason, granted God knows all. However we ask the saints to pray for us because God looked on them with special grace, so there petitions to God are more "authentic"

it's kind of like nagging god isn't it? well, we are his children, and when our dad would tell us "no" we'd send in another sibling to ask==prayer circles go off the assumption that if god doesn't let us have what we want based solely on the number of people who want it, maybe he likes one of our sibs better than us
