Many times I d like to ask lot of learned people this question and quiet often I was told to do our KARMAS( As per Hindu Relegion) and leave rest to God.What's the eternal truth?Why we are always striving for achieving something which is not real truth? Is it necessary to be religious to get closer to God?
I often feel that by achieving more money,fame etc, we get more restless and stressful of achieving even more.Is this our karma? I am not a very religious person.Can anyone help please and enlighten me?

my opinion only. we are here to gain as much wisdom and knowledge as we can and then teach this wisdom and knowledge to others in order to help all of mankind. we are all on the same path and will eventually leave this plane of existence for another. what a wonderful thing it would be if each and every one of us left this plane of existence a little better than when we came into it.

At present stage of human history, when the continued work of the Godly-guidance stands, already, perfected in terms of the long series of prophets and their Scriptures. And__ the Day of Judgement is also at hand. The masses must review, all and all of that, which is being maintained by them; in the name of faith and belief.
The ignorant must pay heed to the Scriptures and the Message of Monotheism, contained therein. Still there is some time for the Repentive Recourse to reform and recognize the actual purpose of life including the actualisation thereof.
Jesus (PBUH) had given this message in his prayer on the cross (The Psalm 22)
“Praise the Lord, you servants of the Lord
Honour the Lord,
You descendants of Jacob
Worship the Lord, you people of Israel.”
(The Psalm 22:23)
It means that praise is meant for the Lord alone. And___ to honour the Lord means to obey the Lord in terms of the Lord’s Commandments and to worship the Lord means to seek help and refuge from the Lord as the Lord is the Omnipotent-Protector alone. And___ that is the sole purpose of human life.

I felt like you at 18 years old I knew thee had to be more to life than what I had been taught. There is a book actually a 3 in one book you can access on line called A Course in Miracles. Their is a text, a students work book with a lesson for each day, and a Teachers Manuel all in one book. here are the links. See below for links...I dove into that material like adry sponge in water soaking up the answers I had wanted to know for so long. The book says our purpose is Love,Our function is Love, and our function will bring us happiness. We are love and can do nothing but love. You have to be ready to question every thing you have been taught in order to be willing to do the daily lessions. One of the links provides you with a human teacher. THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS TO FREE YOUR SOUL FROM THE CYCLE OF BIRTHS. there is no doubt in it. but do not beleive it . think about it by finding the answers of the following questions
1) what is soul is it inside me how should i believe
so many reasons when a person die everything remains in the body except something which goes out of it.
like a car is having everything fuel air and it is in good running condition but still it can not run. it needs a energy to start it that is battery an electric energy
bulb needs current . if current goes away bulb can not ignite
in the same way human body needs some energy to run it . a body is having all the parts in ok condition but it needs CONTINOUS ENERGY to run the human body that is given by nobody else other than SOUL.
2)who made this soul and why it is inside the body to run the body
there is a world of souls where everything happens whatever happens here . but in the world of soul it remains in free state.
think if a bird is free and is trapped into a cage.the difference between their life. the main thing with the bird is its wings , and it is finished into the cage. in the same way the main thing with the soul is its freedom and it is lost in the body. also in the world of soul there is no fear as there is no death and birth.it is immortal. nothing destrys in this world. it means only enjoyment only enjoyment only enjoyment.what is here in this world.

Um religion does help anyone out at all a lot of religious people may not really no God at all.
Ok it's like the difference between knowing someone because you heard about them and actually talking and having a relationship with the person on a first name basis. Alot of religions know of God they have heard of him. But Christians have a personal relationship with God. That's one of the reason's we know where we are going when we die because we have a relationship with the "guy" we are going to meet after we die.
It's like talking to someone over the phone then finally meeting them in person. Other religions however do not have Gods number . And Christians have it caus they know Jesus and Jesus gave it to them. After all Jesus is God's I think he would have his dad's number address.
And you are right things do not fill the emptiness. God put that emptiness in us for a reason so we would seek him. None of us would seek God if he hadn't made it so. So I urge you email me if you want a better example or explanation I would love to talk with you about it.

Our main goal in life shouldnt be to acheive things that are not real truth.
Our purpose is to worship God. all of the other stuff will come along after we seek after Him.
I am very close to God, I work full time in the ministry, and no I dont beleive that you have to be religious to be close to God.
Its not about religion and tradition, it is about a personal Relationship with God.

The purpose of life is to serve God.
Everybody has been called to serve God in an unique way. Every individual has to know what is his unique purpose on this earth. We are all different and unique, God has a plan for every individual. The purpose of your life is inside your heart, you need to have a relationship with God in order He reveals it to you ... you can have some clues by doing some soul searching about you ... you need to know yourself ... what is your biggest dream that don't fade over time? what is your talents? what do you like in life? .... God will help you to connect all that together like a puzzle ... because every of this things has something to do with your purpose in life. Learn to know yourself and know God ... that is the most important in life. You are very unique and special in God's eyes, don't ever forget that. The purpose of earthly life is to choose where we will spend eternity. If we spend eternity in heaven then we are completely fulfilled as human beings and our earthly lives were a complete success, regardless of how much fame and fortune we had or didn't have on earth. If we spend eternity in hell then we are complete failures as human beings and our earthly life was a total waste, regardless of how much fame and fortune we had on earth.
