Do you have a heat-proof glass bowl? If so, make a cinnamon spice cake with the brown sugar, flour, eggs, baking soda and power, butter, vanilla, and cinammon. Put the batter in the greased bowl, then bake according to the recipe directions.

When it's cool, turn it out of the bowl, make a confectioner's sugar icing, tint it orange with a bit of food coloring (not that expensive), and frost the cake. Then decorate it like a jack o'lantern with bits of candy for the eyes, mouth, and nose.

Cinnamon Spice Cake

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk
2 tsp. cinnamon

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside
.
In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the vanilla and milk. Beat in the flour mixture, just until incorporated. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool ten minutes before turning out of pan.

Edit:

Forgot to mention that if you put the cake on a platter and surround the base of the cake with either real autumn leaves or the artificial kind, it really enhances the look of a punkin in a punkin patch!

You have the basics for a good sugar cookie...you could also make cinnamon cookies, or shortbread...Sugar cookies can be cut into fun halloween shapes, and the dough can be colored with food coloring.
You can make simple butter cream frosting out of powdered sugar and a little butter and a little milk.

Look online for some good sugar cookie recipes and simple frosting recipes. There are plenty out there.
