"Do you also know, that there are "miraculous" passages in the bible that state scientific facts before they were ever discovered? for example it is said MANY times in the old testament that blood is the life, and is necessary. Seems natural to us, but in midieval times, blood was drained from many because it was believed it was NOT necessary for life but actually made you healthier. Many died. If you really want to post a worthy question, do the research first."

I know the person made typos but that's not important. What is important is this. Just because some silly Europeans decided they would experiment by draining peoples blood, does that mean that they didn't know that the blood was vital?

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure after all the hundreds of wars they figured out that when you cut the guy and all of his blood fell out he wouldn't get back up.

Or does it really take God to tell us that?

the idea of bleeding was to get the bad blood out. so that the body could make new blood , good blood to replace it.

anyone that hunts with a bow knows that the way to kill an animal with an arrow is to make a hole so that blood drains out and the animal dies.

the same was true of medieval battle and many experiments were done to see which part of the body would bleed fastest..

some people need god to tell them everything or it has no truth for them... oh well the world is flat afterall..and the sun revolves around it...just like the religious men of past days thought.

It is not entirely clear what the question is. The claim that there are scientific facts in the bible is of course false -- indeed, it has hundreds of errors of fact (as well as dozens of internal contradictions). The idea that drawing blood might be beneficial dates to ancient times, when the elements of matter were thought to be earth, air, fire, and water, and there were four "humors" in the body representing these, and a balance between them was required. All of that was nonsense, of course.

They knew quite well that blood was necessary for life. They just thought that some health problems (I think fever was one) were caused by having too much blood. They believed there were four humors (blood, black bile, yellow bile, and mucous) that needed to stay in balance to maintain health. If blood happened to be out of balance, they would drain it. They knew you couldn't live without it, they just thought you could have too much, too.

Very good point, that made me chuckle. I thought they used to drain blood because they believed that if you were sick, by draining the blood, it would drain out all the bad virus/infection inside of you. I don't think they actually thought that blood was useless.

I believe what you say. But they believed that to a certain amount of blood lose is healthy in the medieval ages. After that point, it's just downhill from there.

No, it doesn't take God to tell us that, but isn't it nice when science backs up God, which is what science was set up to do in the first place?

I don`t know... i guess from now untill way back when, there have been some cases of people bleeding to death. I don`t think we can accurately say they thought it wasn`t essential to life..as accidents happen!
