I take it your question is actually, "Do you think Scented Tampax was a good idea?"

Big companies don't launch new products at random. Design, manufacturing, packaging, advertising---we're talking big, big bucks. Tampax probably spent millions just to answer the question: Do women worry how they smell during their periods? Apparently they do.

So even though it seems like a goofy idea to you and me, there must be enough women out there who want such a product to justify the tremendous cost and effort of making it available.

Having said all that... I've had hundreds of girlfriends, and one wife (whom I still have---and who of course is vastly superior to all the aforementioned girlfriends). And I don't think there's anything wrong with my sense of smell. But I can't remember EVER being able to tell if a woman was having her period by how she smelled. If such a valuable skill actually existed, I'm sure I would've mastered it by now purely in self-defense.

Believe me, we men would love to see a tampon product with a VERY distinctive and noticeable scent---so distinctive and noticeable that it'd give us guys a much-needed warning: POSSIBLY IRRATIONAL WOMAN AHEAD. (Maybe something that smells like nitroglycerine or some other high explosive...?) Imagine how this would promote understanding between the sexes, and all the unnecessary squabbling, alienation, and depression it could prevent.

DISCLAIMER: I love women. The popular notion that woman are often irrational and/or dangerous during their periods is complete folklore. The opinions in message are to be used for entertainment purposes only, and are not those of Yahoo, Inc., your tax accountant, or anyone else with the least bit of dignity or sense of appropriateness. Have a nice day. [ducking to avoid flying dinner plates]

OMG i agree, but not only that... It kinda makes me cringe thinking of sticking something inside me that is scented. i dont know why... like it's got extra stuff in it to make it smell... i dont want any of that. I accidentally bought a whole box of Tampax scented, that is the first time I found out about the concept. gross. you are funny

EDIT ~people that have said, it's to cover up "the smell"... WHAT smell? Sorry to be gross, but blood doesn't really smell... and if you shower normally anyways, there shouldn't be any other smell you are worried about either....

A few years ago they brought a scented tampon on the market but it was withdrawn because of the possibilty of toxic shock - death!! they have now brought them back an I wonder what has changed?

its for woman why would a guy want to know the answer to this, when a woman has a period she doesent exactly feel as fresh as a daisy so a scented tampon helps to cover the mank smell that a period can cause.

I read somewhere that the perfume can actually cause an upset in the vagina, kinda like a PH imbalance, leading to increased chance of yeast infection.
