It's up to the employer, if they want to offer benefits and health insurance to part time employees. Most don't.

Pizza Hut has great insurance for part time employees that you can get in the first 30 days. I have a great high paying job but my insurance for my family was $600. Through Pizza Hut it is $250 for the best coverage. I keep the part time job just for the insurance. My copays are the same as with the more expensive insurance.

I am not sure about Mcdonald's but if you work an average of 35 hours per week, most companies offer insurance. If they don't there is a thing called Cobra which is an insurance that you can by for yourself. It is sort of expensive, so it might only be beneficial if you often go to the doctor or have a lot of prescriptions. I hope that helps.

I don't know about McDonalds, but you can at Starbucks. If you're job hunting, that's a great place to work.
