I'm not sure about your Yahoo!. Mine has a local page that should help you. Also look up community service or volunteer work on the Internet. The phone book should also have a list of non-profit groups, think about something you are passionate about and go for that.

I will tell you that your local fire company can always use volunteers!!! You can of course fight fires, but you can also help out with fund raising, or Ladies Auxiliary. Ladies Auxiliary helps out with banquets, dances, and when there is a long fire call they bring food and drink to us firefighters. You can also help out with ambulance companies, some times fire and ambulance are in the same organizations. You can also become a fire police officer, they are vital because they help with crowd control at scenes and also keep traffic away from a vehicle accident or fire scene.

Most of these companies will pay for any training that you need, as well as any equipment you would need. Since you are 16, you will have a couple of years to learn everything and train to get experience for when you turn 18. In Pennsylvania you can be 16, and get you E.M.T license.

Good luck, and thank you for wanting to help in your community, more people need to take your lead.

Be a Candy Striper, in a hospital.Hospitals also have many other jobs to do for volunteers. Check out the old age homes, Call Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Call your local churches. Call your Town hall and ask if they can recommend a place that needs help. There a many organizations that could use your help. Have fun.and enjoy.
