If you'll be open until 2 p.m., why not do soup and sandwiches too for lunch. I closed at 1:30 p.m. after serving lunch. You might need some more product, just be creative and make the most of what you have in the cooler. It's a great way to use up stuff before it goes bad.

it all depends on your market. do you live in a farming community or a retirement community? we have a restaurant that closes every day at 2pm and has been in business since before we moved in 11 years ago. Actually we have two restaurants that do that, one is about 10 miles away from us in a populated area, and the other is just up the road from us, but whose food we do not particularly care for. if you do open a restaurant, i would strongly strongly VEHEMENTLY advise you to get a place that you and your hubby can run on your own. your help will kill you.

Sure. We have one in my area that opens at 6:00am and closes at 2:00pm. They serve breakfast and lunch - then close. They are always busy. Sure they might make more money if they were open later, but they just don't want to keep it open. Nice, huh. They probably want a life too.

Help is a big problem in running anything - so really think about that before you jump into anything.

I have seen this work with the newer motels and holiday apartments that are built . The owner leases the kitchen/dining area to two separate food businesses with one doing breakfast/brunch and the other serving patrons at night.

I live in a small town and one of our favorite restaurants is a little breakfast house. I believe the hours they have are what you suggest. It is very busy and is gaining a really good reputation. Servings are hearty, and everything is homemade. Location, location, location are key and also good food brings good word of mouth--the best advertisers.

I don't see why not. Where I live, restaurants that serve breakfast anytime are doing a booming business. If we had a place where only breakfast was served, the customers would be crazy for it!

Absolutely!

I think it would be very important to have the hours be very clear so people dont wonder when you are open, maybe you can name it something that makes it obvious like "just breakfast" - this would prevent people from skipping the hassle of figuring out your hours.

big chains like IHOP can. They charge about 20.00 for two plates and tea or coffee. But small restaurants usually can not make it on breakfast alone because you need the more upscale prices at lunch and dinner
