You need to put your hair in its healthiest state prior to the chemical service. Perms are alkaline and hair at its healthiest is acidic. Super acidify your hair prior to the perm. Try using Nexxus Epitome Botanical Reconstructor, however, you can only get this product if you are a stylist!

The brand thermasilk is specialized to prevent heat damage to hair that is blown dry or straightened etc. everyday. Also get some good moisturizing shampoos and coditioners, perms can really fry your hair. Use a leave-in coditioner a few weeks in advance to the perm so your hair will be nice and ready for that pretty perm! If all else fails just ask your hair stylist =)

I think the last couple of times I noticed that before putting a relaxer on my hair if my hair was moisturized it wouldn't break and the process would go more smoothly. That's to prevent breakage or whatever but to prevent your scalp and stuff from burning try not to scratch your scalp before hand and also put some kind of protective grease around your edges. Like petroleum jelly or regular grease or something.

don't exercise or scratch your head for an hour before getting the perm put in.and the hair dresser should put Vaseline or grease on your scalp before putting the perm in.
