They should accept it. They are of Spanish descent, hence they are Hispanic. White Americans are of European descent, so we are called Caucasions. We don't seem to have a problem with that, so they shouldn't mind being called Hispanics.

Just Like americans aren´t called british honey, hispano is a term for those who come from Spain, If you get to read and give yourself some education you will realize Mexicans are a mix of two races not direct descendants from spanish ppl.Spain used to be named hispania yrs ago that´s where the term Hispanic/Hispano comes from...

Hispanic is a word the US government uses for anyone with a Latin background, primarily from Spanish decent. Since Mexicans are from Mexico, I suspect they prefer to be called Mexican.

And why do Hispanics don't like being called Mexican ? To be Mexican you must have just come across the Rio Grande from Mexico more than likely they are in America illegally.A Hispanic (Latino) has been here in America for generations when America bought or took possession of Texas , California , Arizona , New Mexico and so on.. A Hispanic ( Latino ) is an American a Mexican just come to America to take jobs and services and so on..

First they don't seem to get mad at me in So Cal when I call them hispanic or latino or maxican, they are pretty cool about it and second, they are part native mexican and part spanish so thats prolly why, it owuld be like calling all europeans white they want to be called by their nationality, Germans want to be called Germans not whites, so that is something to consider my friend.

They are Latinos they are not Hispanics. The word comes from Hispania (Spain) and that was 500 years ago when Latinamerica was invaded by Spain. How long should Latinos be reminded of that?

Hispanic is a term invented in order to take a US Census. Maybe since it was a term invented by some white guys they probably don't like it.

Because they are Mexican, not Hispanic. They are not owned by Spain or another country now.

Should those in Spain be called Middle-Easterners because they were conqured by Middle-Easterners many hundreds of years ago, and got a good chunk of THEIR language from them? No. That wouldn't make sense, just like calling Mexicans, Hispanics makes no sense.

Mexican is a nationality, like we consider American, English, Chinese, etc., Hispanic is a racial-related term...not all Hispanics are Mexican (and actually, not all Mexicans are Hispanic).

Mexicans know they are Hispanics, descendants of the Latin cultures in Europe, mainly Spain.
