I have asked many questions about religion, not just in this forum and have established the following
FACT No-one knows for sure who wrote the bible
FACT No-one knows for sure when it was written
FACT It is known that certain gospels or scriptures were not included. Why?If they are all the word of God,shouldn't they all be there.
FACT No-one knows when Jesus was born.
FACT No-one knows when he died.Without absolute belief in Jesus the whole religion is defunct.Yet there is very little known about him(if he existed)
FACT The bible is full of contradictions
There are many more reasons. But what I really want to know is why so-called intelligent people continue to believe this cr@p

People believe in God becuase it gives them hope that there is life after death, not because of facts. People believe it's better have false hope than no hope at all.

I think a lot of what you say, you don't really understand.
The Bible would seem like it has contradictions, if you take everything literally, and out of context.
It seems that you don't actually want to hear reason why people believe in God, but want to tell people why you don't believe.
So here's my answer - I'll just comment on a few things you said.

Who cares who wrote the Bible and when?
Certain gospels were not included because they were not believed to be the Word of God. Maybe the books were not written very well, or maybe they contained things that were known to be false, or whatever. I don't know.
Who cares about the date Jesus was born, and the date He died. He did exist.

If you could disprove the existence of God, or the existence of Jesus, then you might have an argument. I'm not saying you don't have reasons for your beliefs. I'm saying that you cannot disprove mine, as I cannot disprove yours. Since I believe that God exists, I don't worry about the details of history, and where people could have been mistaken in what they wrote. I follow the spiritual path that I believe makes sense, for many reasons. It's worked for me and many others, and just look at all the good Christian principles can do for us. Christians believe in helping those is need, loving others (even those who hate them), being kind and merciful, giving of our time and money, and so many other things.

If I believe there is a spiritual realm (which I cannot help but believe), then I know that life has more meaning than just our short lives. So of course I want to discover spiritual truth. Christianity makes sense to me. I'm not saying that can't be any mistakes in the Bible, but I am saying that they don't make a difference. They don't make God any less real. Humans always have and always will make mistakes. That is why, as a Christian, I don't just base my beliefs on what the church tells me. I study the Bible for myself, and figure out what makes sense. I will always admit that I can be wrong about certain things. I have a few beliefs that will never change, such as my belief in God, in Jesus, salvation by grace, heaven and hell, moral standards, etc. Basic Christian beliefs make sense to me. But some Christians get too legalistic and hold up the Bible as if God Himself wrote it, translated it into all languages and handed it out to us. They forget that humans make mistakes, that churches throughout history have wanted to control people, have done awful things in the name of the Lord, etc.

Most of the Bible makes sense to me, but it's more than just words. There's spiritual understanding that comes when you believe, and some concepts that seemed so weird can really make sense.

When I was a teenager I wasn,t going to believe all those things you call "crap". Fair enough I told myself I will start by reading the gospels with an open mind-that is as much as I could have an open mind. After I finished the gospels I came to the conclusion
either Jesus was who He said He was or He was the biggest fake the world ever saw. If He was a fake why did eleven men, disciples, take all the beatings and punishment they did?How did these men get a body out of the tomb with soldiers guarding it if they stole the body and Jesus didn,t rise from the
dead. I could go on and on with questions I find harder to
answer than to believe what the Gospels say. After I exhausted
all my ability to answer all the questions I had I experienced
the biggest miracle. I fell to my knees and said, Jesus if you are
real show yourself to me. I have had such peace and joy even in
difficult times. I know He lives in my heart today. You will have
to answer that question yourself. I only hope you go about it with an open mind.

First of all, historians have recorded when Jesus lived, so it's not just the Bible that tells when He was alive, and that He lived.

Secondly, the Bible does not contradict itself. If you see contradictions, you haven't read the statements in context, and are mistaken.

Third, other so called "gospels" were not inspired of God, and many are phony. They are not part of the Word of God.

What I really want to know is why so-called intelligent people don't believe that there's a God. How can you look around at the earth and not think that there's some higher power behind it.

Plus, without God there's no morality or point to life.

Because He changed my life. I would be under treatment as a psychotic schizophrenic if not for what He did after prayer and baptism in The Holy Spirit.

Because He guides my life. Every disaster I face becomes a victory. Everything I need He gives me. I feel I can face anything because I know He is there to strengthen and protect me.

Because He transforms me. I have facxed potentially violent situations on a number of occassions and found myself acting and speaking "automatically" to bring peace to the situations. Not anythhing I feel capable of naturally.

Because He has brought firends back from the dead. I have at least 3 friends who have either died and come back, or who have been told by doctors they have no chance of survival, yet live to this day.

FACT Faith in Jesus has transformed the lives of billions for 2,000 years.
FACT people find release from guilt and condemnation through Jesus
FACT The Holy Spirit has enabled people to far more than they could humanly expect to do. Far more sacrifice, mercy, kindness
FACT People serve Jesus all over the world to provide food, water, healing to those worst off
FACT People have been tortured and executed because they are Christians, yet held true to their faith to the end
FACT The Gospel is written in the hearts of all who believe in Christ, and the evidence can be seen in their lives

Regarding your queries on the Bible: Don't you think that if some guy had just decided to make it all up he would have done it slightly differently?!

Also, I find it interesting that people who have set out to conclusively disprove the Bible once and for all, have actually ended up having to come to the conclusion that the Bible is true; God is real; and Jesus died to save us from sin.

I believe that God gave everyone the choice to either recognise him and acknowledge him or to chose to live in denial of His presence. If people ignore His existence it doesn't change the reality of it. If God wanted, He could give us proof beyond doubt that He "is".

I am told that it is recorded in historical records that Jesus lived, it is just down to you as to whether you believe that He is the Son of God and that He died and rose again.

Whether you think me an "intelligent" person or whether you think me simple for my faith in the Lord Jesus, I would rather hold fast to what I believe to be true than be well thought of by any person.

Perhaps the problem is that you don't care what the answers are and only ask them of religions who promote Bible stories rather than Bible facts. There are those to teach all their members Bible facts, including those from other sources, such as Roman Historians at the time of Christ. There is also the Dead Sea Scrolls. If you really cared to know these answers, you know where to seek them. Otherwise, why do you care what the answers are, you wouldn't believe them anyway.

All your facts are about Christianity and "organized religion", which were invented (or created, if you will) by men. The Bible was written by men, and men decided what should be in and out of the Bible.
There's no official "God's seal of approval" for any religion or scripture. All of them are based on the man's interpretation.
"God" is above all of it. You don't need to be a christian, or muslim, or jew, or go to any church or temple, to believe in God, and there isn't necessarily an explanation for "why" you believe in it. It's all a matter of faith, and the definition of faith is believing in something without proof.

Looks like you are interested in the nature of spirituality, but believe me, the bible is not for you. I would leave it behind if I were you.
It is a very unreliable, misunderstood and translated by people who do not understand it. You would be a mug to believe it literally, like any story. But it sounds as if you are interested to find out what it is trying to point to, or you would not be so cross.
Read David Bohm's Wholeness and the Implicate Order. Bohm was a quantum physicist. But you do need to be really so-called intelligent to read it.

I will not even try to give you answers to all your questions as you know what they are in "your mind" already. The facts are in the Bible if you search for them, and I sure would want to be ready for God then not to believe and find he is real as I know he is as I can feel it and live by it. And what do you really think that our world and all creation came from? Do you have to "see" to believe or wouldnt you want to "believe" to see the truth of Gods love and promise? That is up to you however. We all have that choice and I respect everyone for that. Even you.
I do wonder why these questions are asked if there is not a part of you that is not searching for God's truth and believes there IS something more to this life then living and dying.
God Bless you---

Your Q is very offensive.

The Holy Bible and other Scriptures are true. Search and you will find them. Pray about them and you will know the truth for yourself. There are many who have done this and know for fact that we do indeed have a Heavenly Father who loves all of His children, and that His Son did also live and died on the cross and that through His atonement all mankind can be saved. The Bible and other Scriptures are true, I can testify of this and I sincerely hope that one day you may discover this for yourself. God Bless you.
