i think the term a good rodgering came from the time of king Arthur. There was a Knight called Rodger who was a very good friend of sir Lancelot's he got caught at a knights round table meeting frolicking with a local wench. that is where the term rodgering came from. Maybe there was a guy in a village named Rodger who was awesome in bed!
I don't know the exact origin, but I've seen it in books featuring diary entries written in the late 1700s, British and American.

It comes from a rhyming phrase, Roger the lodger. A lodger who slept with the landlady and paid no rent was referred to as a "**** lodger"
