hello, im trying to uninstall windows xp so i can install linux on my server. what do i need to do to accomplish this and will linux be able to use the existing hard drive to save files? also, when i go to start:control panal:add and remove programs: uninstall windows xp isnt in there

start off the XP boot cd and wipe disk then re install UBUNTU if u r using it

You can't delete windows xp from Add-Remove programs!
Insert your LINUX cd into your cd-rom and restart you computer.Be sure that your cd is bootable and your cd-rom boots before your HDD. When asking if you want to boot from cd-rom press YES. Your Linux should ask you now what you want to do. Be sure to check the option to format your harddisk to delete windows.

You cant uninstall winxp from add remove programs unless you have upgraded from win98 to winxp.
if you want to have your existing drives you should install Linux with Kernel 2.6.
This version of kernel linux can understand every file formats you have ever heard include NTFS.

You might want to learn basic computing concepts first, before installing Linux.

if you do not know enough to answer this question yourself you are not able to install linux and use it. so leave XP on your system.

you better have all your linux drivers to each of your components before you start or you have will be screwed.
