See, I feel the same way. I am a die-hard Christian. i love jesus Christ but I honestly dont see anything wrong with Halloween. Some say its a holiday for satenic worship but i just see it as a night for fun and maybe even a little fright. Christmas is fro celebrating the birth of Jesus and family. but for the kids, it means presents and fun but i dont see anything wrong with that just so long as they know about Jesus' birth and the true meaning if Christmas.

Actually, we celebrate the Winter Solstice. My son understands that Santa Claus and Jesus are both myths. He prefers the myth of Santa Claus over the myth of Jesus, so we play "Make Believe" every December 25th. For Halloween, we all enjoy dressing up in costume. It's not really a holiday, but he's sure going to have fun pretending to be Superman for a day.

Yeah, good Christian ties.
Halloween and All Hallow's Eve arose because the Catholic Church decided to take over Samhain (a Pagan holiday) in an effort to convert Pagans. The same thing happened with Yule, which the Catholic Church turned into Christmas. I think it's great that kids have these holidays, and they really are good holidays. But it bothers me a little when Christianity claims all the credit for them.

thank you very much as I feel like you do a child should be a child and not rushed into being an adult. growing up I was allowed to play, look at the clouds, etc. and I turned out ok ( I think ). naturally my hero's were different as we didn't have television at first. I grew up with my hero's being The Shadow and Straight Arrow among others.

I'm with you, sister! I hate hearing about people stopping Halloween or Christmas because they are pagan holidays. So what if they are??? The point is that they are fun and bring the best out of a child's imagination.

You're absolutely right, so long as the kids know we're celebrating Jesus' birthday on Christmas and just having some goofy fun on Halloween, there's no problem.
Catholics always celebrate All Saints Day on the day after Halloween, so there's a good Christian tie in there, too.

it cant be stopped. everyone has free-will to choose what they wish to celebrate, and not. who will stop you from buying gifts for your kids and putting them under a tree on a certain day, or dressing them up?
i doubt they will, it brings families together and makes everyone more joy-full.

This is terrific. Thank you.
Some people need to understand that if they make the leash too short, the dog will eventually break out.

Christmas is fine but I no longer see the point in Halloween. I mean yeah, when we were kids it was fun but it is no longer safe for kids to go door to door trick-or-treating. The bad have taken it away from the good. As Usual!!
