Columbus day is on the 9th of October. It used to be on the 12th of October. What gives?

Whichever date falls on the second Monday in Oct. is the day it is observed. Kind of like Thanksgiving always being on a Thursday :)

america was discovered on 12th october, really don't know why columbus day is on the 9th

It is always on the 12th, just observed on the 2nd monday of october.
