I have a 10 yr old and I agree with the bionicles! My son loves bionicles and video games- Also, something really cool and educating are the "oloy" books- They have Piratology, wizardology, dragonology, etc- My son loves to read these books, they have a lot of surprises in these books than just your average book. For example, the pirate one had gold coins, lifelike treasure maps, secret letters.. The Dragonology book has a real dragon model at the end of the book that you can take out and build your own model dragon- VERY cool! If all else fails, instead of cash or a gift card, I would suggest a roll of quarters, - Sounds funny, but my son loves a roll of change, especially quarters- Good luck!!

They have neat science craft kits that boys will love such as dinosaurs, skeletons, solar system. They have them at Sams Club, Costco and places like Target and Wal-Mart. They are fun and alot better than the normal run of the mill toys kids get at Christmas.

I agree with the giftcard to Toys R Us or somewhere similar so that they know what their limit is when they check the card. Part of the excitement is to take them to the register and find out how much is on the card! But my suggestion is also to TAKE THEM SHOPPING YOURSELF IF YOU ARE ABLE. THAT WAY YOU GET TO SEE WHAT THEY CHOOSE, WHAT THEY LIKE AND YOU GET THAT QUALITY TIME WITH THEM. Also, they will associate those gifts with you, where if someone else takes them to spend it, they sort of associate it with the person who took them. I know it sounds crazy but been there done that. (Note-FYI I am not yelling at you with the all-caps, I just wanted to distinguish the difference in my answer since the first was agreeing with someone else's answer.)Good Luck!

Money! I have all boy nephews and they love getting money. They feel all grown up being able to decide what to spend their money on. And that is a kinda wierd age...between toys and grown-up stuff. Money is always a safe bet with kids.

Give a giftcard that way he can pick his pwn gift. I would say like $50 or whatever is your budget for him, to probably Toys'R'us, KB toys, or even a Book store such as Barnes and Nobles, or Borders...But just in case you don't know what to get a gift card or gift certificate is the best thing to get

um... i have a 9yr old brother. he is into numbers and records. his favorite book ever is the book of world records (found at amazon.com). he seems to find them interested. he also like wiffle bats and balls (found almost anywhere for less than $10), baseball mitts, soccer balls, plush soccer balls to kick around the house. anything that is related to sports, numbers, records, nature, etc. if they are the video game, tv kind of kids, then i have no idea! you are on your own there!

What I buy for my niece and nephews are gift cards so that they can go buy what they want, they always tell me what they bought. It is easier then going out and trying to figure out what the heck to buy for them.
