I agree with you. I'm Christian and know that the Earth is billions of years old. One day in the Bible could represent 100 million years. Most of the Old Testament is symbollic.

Exactly. It's my theory that the Bible says it happened in a day simply because that was easier for those people to understand. Tell them it happened over a few million years, and not only would they not be able to comprehend it, but the person stating such would be executed.
I believe firmly that the Earth is quite old. Probably at least six million years old, as scientists believe.

The Bible never says earth has been created in 6 days. It says in the beginning God created Heaven and Earth Genesis1:1.
Next verse says the earth was lying void and without any form.
But it is not mentioned the beginning was how long back.
the following verses refer to a recreation of the world we are in that is the system of life.

No the bible does not tell how old the earth is. everybody who believes the earth is basically 6000 or 10,000 years old isn't making use of their brains and refusing to look at good judgment and technology. The earth is extremely old and our time isn't comparable to God's time. there is not any reason the two, technology and faith can no longer exist jointly. technology solutions various questions yet in doing so opens up the way for much extra complicated questions approximately existence and how it began. P.S. if it quite is a image of you, you're pleasing. =)

Fact:
The Earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old.
The universe is between 13.5 and 16 billion years old.
The first stars burned out long ago and created the heavy elements.
Our sun is a yellow dwarf and will one day become a red giant, and then a brown dwarf.
How can we know this? We can measure and observe thats how.

AND THE EVENING AND THE MORNING WERE THE FIRST DAY. That seems very simple to me. How 'bout you? 6-10,000 years came from people taking the genealogic records given in the Bible and figuring up the age. (e.g. Methuselah lived 1000 some years, and his son's age is given, so they add those together)

Christians have "faith". Faith is the abilty to believe in something when common sense tells you it is not possible.
I never understand why someone tries to use science and logic to confirm matters of faith.
