Tell me your reasonings and related experiences.

I know sooo many people that have smoked pot and maybe in their youth, tried other drugs as well...but now, they just use pot recreationally or medically and they don't use other drugs.

I also know many people that have tried only pot or alcohol and never anything else.

Why do people still call it a gate way drug?

Marajuana is natural and has been around for centuries.

Other drugs are man made and potentially full of all kinds of chemicals that can seriously mess you up.

Also, marajuana is legal in some parts of the country (USA).

I started smoking pot after I started having grand mal seizures that were not controlled by the prescription medications my Doc put me on. I don't drink alcohol, and pot is the only illegal drug I've tried. I no longer have seizures thanks to marijuana. The epilepsy drugs I take cost $700 a bottle, and are obviously worthless. I had countless side effects from them, and was still having seizures. Read about the side effects of Keppra, and compare them to marijuana, then decide which 1 is worse.

What difference does it make whether it is a gateway drug or not?

1. It's still illegal.
2. The mentality that says "Pot is okay" will also rationalize other drugs as "okay".

You do understand that your added comments are idiotic right....

Marijuana has a chemical make up... all drugs do.

All drugs are chemicals. Regardless if they are natural or synthesized. Cocaine is a naturally occurring substance. So is the key ingredient of methamphetamine. Alcohol and tobacco are as well... none of these are "good" for you and can "seriously mess you up", whatever the heck that means. Why make the argument?

The possession of Marijuana is legal in a few states. Being under the influence of marijuana is not legal anywhere. Get your facts straight.

Marajuana is considered a gateway drug because many people start with this before they move on to the stronger and harder drugs that are out there. I know many people that started with just marijuana and then went on to cocaine and heroin. If you ask drug addicts most dont start with the hard stuff. The bottom line is it's a chance that everyone takes. Maybe you wont progress to the next level of the chain but then maybe you wont be so lucky.

Maybe not all pot smokers end up as crackheads, but I'll bet a lot of junkies and crack whores started out with weed.

It is a gateway to sitting on your *** and doing nothing. Other than that, I think it's a myth.

it's just propaganda BS.

most pot-users never go on to harder stuff; or if they do, just once or twice.
