Are you a total knob !!! you are only able to say things like that because of the armed forces giving you freedom of speech ..

I so wish you could see what my Bro has had to endure after two combat tours of Iraq plus the balkans and after the first iraq war six months helping the marsh arabs who had been gassed by saddam ...

Now he is in afghanistan ... I so want you to Suffer like the squaddies !!!

Yeah, I think it's disgusting. I think it's disgusting that instead of giving us a decent wage and binning tax altogether when on operations, Gordon Brown thinks that just chucking a couple of grand at each soldier will make it all go away.

I think a few of you seem to be missing the point - this is paid for ALL operational commitments not just Iraq, which incidentally until recently included Northern Ireland and if that wasn't looking after the welfare of the British Nation I don't know what is.

I think a few people round here need to stop whining and look at their priorities, the British Army is struggling for Soldiers as it is and no matter how proud they are of serving their country, no one wants to be treaded like a mug.

Maybe you would think differently if you had a father/brother/sister or son serving in the armed forces risking their lives - some of them have had to buy their own boots before they left for Iraq! Many of the soldiers will come home in body bags! Serving soldiers deserve every penny they can get out of Blairs rotten Government - they are long overdue their 'bonus'.
Maybe if the Government stopped taking in so many b*****y immigrants into the UK we could pay our soldiers a decent wage.

The United Kingdom as one of the best Armed Forces in the World, which as had to endure continual cut backs throughout
all three of its branches, all because a series of incompetent Governments who are continually penny pinching in order to squander money elsewhere. Only recently the Navy has had to
Merchandise its own logo to raise funds. What next, will our Armed Services have to put in for Lottery Grants to get new equipment? We need to re-invest in our Military and its Personnel
in order to ensure our Country as a secure future, more so now than ever. As already pointed out the money should have been invested before and No its not disgusting.

The Brits should be getting more than just a bonus. This is what I have been told by a British citizen. They have to collect all of their spent brass, if they don't, they are charged for it. If they lose a canteen, or damage that or any of their equipment, they have to have it taken out of their wages. If they tear their uniform and it has to be replaced, never mind that it might have been trying to duck bullets, they have it taken from their wages. They should be getting a hell of a lot more if this is the case and it is true what the chap told me.

Maybe we should bring back conscription. U know anyone under 35 (including you) should serve in the army for pittance. Doesn't that seem fair. Die or lose a limb for, say, £13,000 p.a, which doesn't even cover the deposit of a house these days.
Our soldiers are some of the worst paid in the world. Giving them a little extra seems fair considering what they do.

I thought that there was a minimum wage - they should not be getting less than this.

I think that the government announcement that they have copied the Conservative policy of not charging them income tax is the least they can do for the men and women they have put into harm's way.

Stop paying them? Stop equiping them ? They should get EVERYTHING they need to do their job.

It's more than disgusting, it's immoral to try and buy them off when we all know we are in a no win situation, is £2000 worth dying for?.
The government is talking about giving foreign criminals £2500 to go back home, see what I mean?
Is the government the only people to see they will take the money and come back in the following day for more cash?
Fetch them home from a phoney war designed to put billions into high finance pockets.

yeh i think its disgusting.... its disgusting their not being given more!!! these people put theior lives on the line every damn day for us! they sacrifice their personal lives and so so much more for us, things that 99% of us could never imagine, so how about instead of moaning about how much we're giving them, we just damn well say thank you to them and ghet on with our own lives, knowing that actaully, if they weren't their we would be in a whole pile of cr*p. I'd rather give our men and woman who spend their lives defending this country my money than give it to someone who comes to our country unwilling to work and expecting a wage all the same!

No I don't, these people are serving in dreadful conditions and whatever are viewpoints may be about the political situation and whether they ought to be there; as a country we have a duty of care for our servicemen and women.
