Aetna insurance sent me a denial on my daughters claims because she is not in school . I explained to them she is waiting to get into an LPN class at the vocational school . I also told them that the State of Tennessee mandated benefits for dependants states that all dependents are covered until the age of 23 or until the age of 25 if attending school full time. Their response was that according to the contract that my husband's employer has the state mandate does not apply.

Call you state Insurance Commissioner's office. They can let you know all the requirements of state mandated health benefits. Also if the insurance company is in error the commisioner's office will help you get the error corrected.

The state contracts the health insurance carrier; but if the state says one thing and the health insurance says another, you need to get clarification from the state.
