Creationists cannot really explain dinosaurs. They mindlessly repeat some overly-contrived excuses-not explanations-that some preachers or pseudo-scientists concocted to keep the suckers putting money in the offering plates. One is that "leviathan" is dinosaur. There were many species of dinosaurs, and there were many large reptiles that were not dinosaurs. There were many large amphibians before reptiles existed, and there were many large mammals after the dinosaurs became extinct. Leviathan does not cover the thousands of large animals that have existed in millions of years of Earth's history. Another excuse is that a day may mean a million years in Genesis. Fundamentalists disagree with that trite excuse. A book Billy Graham gave me says the word used for "day" in Genesis means the ordinary 24 hour day and not whatever some morons choose it to mean. There are many people who agree somewhat with Bishop James Ussher's statement that creation was in 4004 BCE. Others push it back to 6000, to 12,000 BCE, but that doesn't really help in explaining the fossil record and scientific dating systems. Some deny this dating, but they have nothing to offer in replacement. Creationists cannot prove anything at all in their belief system, so they just attack science. That is futile and shows them for what they are.

The Bible account in the first chapter of Genesis simply states the general order of creation. It allows for possibly thousands of millions of years for the formation of the earth and many millenniums in six creative eras, or “days,” to prepare the earth for human habitation.
Some dinosaurs (and pterosaurs) may indeed have been created in the fifth era listed in Genesis, when the Bible says that God made “flying creatures” and “great sea creatures.” Perhaps other types of dinosaurs were created in the sixth epoch. The vast array of dinosaurs with their huge appetites would have been appropriate considering the abundant vegetation that evidently existed in their time.—Genesis 1:21 ( So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good." ) New KJV
When the dinosaurs had fulfilled their purpose, God ended their life. But the Bible is silent on how he did that or when. We can be sure that dinosaurs were created by Jehovah God for a purpose, even if we do not fully understand that purpose at this time. They were no mistake, no product of evolution. That they suddenly appear in the fossil record unconnected to any fossil ancestors, and also disappear without leaving connecting fossil links, is evidence against the view that such animals gradually evolved over millions of years of time. Thus, the fossil record does not support the evolution theory. Instead, it harmonizes with the Bible’s view of creative acts of God.
Some of the older translations of the Bible at times use the word “dragons” to translate the Hebrew tan·ni·nim′ (“sea creatures, ). (Ps. 74:13--" Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters. 148:7-- " Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps" Isa. 27:1-- "In that day Jehovah with his hard and great and strong sword will punish leviathan the swift serpent, and leviathan the crooked serpent; and he will slay the monster that is in the sea." Am. Standard Version
The term “dragon” (Greek, dra′kon) is found in the Christian Greek Scriptures. Dinosaurs were the giants of the animal kingdom, a remarkable testimony to God’s power of creation. Only our Creator knows why the dinosaurs disappeared from the earth.

They were created. And, unlike Chippy1080 said, it was not in a period time where the lengths of "days" were unspecified. The Hebrew word for day used in, say Genesis 1:5, is "yom". "Yom" is the same word that is used in Deuteronomy 5:12 which says,
Deuteronomy 5:12 (KJV)
Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.
Are you trying to tell me that the sabbath day also lasts for a long, unspecified period of time in the Jewish culture? Come one. Really. The only time it could be used figuratively is when there is an accompanying term that defines the space of time. Is there one? If there is, please point it out to me where it says, "long enough for dinosaurs to exist and die before man was created", or something similar. If you tried to pose the same argument Chippy1080 did, about the earth not being created yet, well, did you know that the same word for day is used before AND after the earth was created? I hope this helps, God bless!

Holy Crap? Are these people serious?
Its no wonder the religious are mocked. They come up with these ignorant answers like the ones above.
No where in the Bible does it say god created dinosaurs.
The great flood killed the dinosaurs? How do you know that? I didnt see it in the Bible?
These are the most ignorant and ridiculas answers I have seen on YA R&S, ever. And there have been a lot. These are the cream of the crop when it comes to stupidity.

Dinosaurs were the crown of God's animal creation. Most of them died in the flood. It is not known whether or not any were on the ark.
Thousands of bone fossils prove they existed not millions but a few thousand years ago. Look up dinosaurs on the Internet.

thats easy. the bible talks of some of them, and just because it says that everything was created in 7 days doesnt mean 7 literal days. it means 7 periods of time (think about it, a day is portrayed as the earths rotation on its axis right? well the earth wasnt the first thing created in the story, therefore 1 day could be thousands or even millions of years. so why then could dinosaurs not have existed before man and died out prior to man?

As a Christian I would explain this way.
Earth was a planet made for life or to live. (some Bible verse says that I don't remember it now).
Even before the creation of this present world there had been another world in this planet.
God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind...
Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life...
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
This is the clue that once God had made all these things millions of years before.
But the case of man it was different. he framed man for the first time.
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
Dinosaurs might had been here long back may be in the previous worlds and up to the Flood of Noah period.

As a Christian I would explain it this way.
The are prehistoric reptiles that lived between 65 to 230 million years ago (give or take a few weeks) .
Not all Creation theories require a literal interpretation of the Bible

What? Who said that. There is so much proof of these animals. The thing about dinosaurs is not in their previous existense, but in their age and where they fit in the biblical view.
Their age seems to be certified. Carbon dating seems to be correct, but it only makes a christian wrong in a fact. We don't know how old the earth is. We don't know the exact dates. We don't know what has been passed down, thru word of mouth, truths from long ago.

The dinosaurs are just a joke that the palaeontologists haven't gotten yet as far as they're concerned.
