In Britain the Government hates you and your family, also society is so f*cked up that a large number of people want to rob/burgle/assault/worse you and your family. With this as a reality, to then ask us to take up any form of Civic Participation is at best laughable and at worst sickening.

No, but it's highly recommended. Don't you want control of your own life? Or would you really rather someone else made the rules for you? Civic participation ensures that sense of control.

It is mainly jury duty. It is mandatory unless you have a good excuse. pregnant, nursing a child, job doesn't pay (hardship). don't understand the system etc.

It is recommended but not mandatory. We should all help our fellow man in some capacity.
