I believe religion is like almost everything else: it has good aspects and negative aspects. There is much that I respect in religion (e.g., helping the poor and sick), and much that I abhor (e.g., persecuting those who don't think or believe as you do). I have friends and family who are religious, and I love and admire them; and I have others who are not at all religious, and I love and admire them, too. I once considered myself a person of faith, but now I do not. I think I am better for having grown out of a life of blind faith and superstition, but that was my choice. As an American Humanist, I believe in freedom of conscience. I do not assume that I have the right to determine what other people should believe, and I will not allow others to think for me.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Unconditional love for our Heavenly Father.
To love my neighbor, family, friends, and enemies.
To trust in His will, to let be.
To never fight. To never sin.
To let the words of love be my weapon and defense.
To always learn, thereby always growing closer to Him and Jesus.
To be honest, charitable, worthy and humble.
And to belong to no church, church isn't the way to heaven, true faith is.
(I just made those up myself!) :o]

religion should increase the value and enjoyment of your life.

religion should be free.

I do noot need a priest to talk to god for me. i may need a teacher to help me find the way to god so that i may talk to her myself.

religion should cause you to focus on yourself and fixing the peoblems in your own life.

religion should never be forced on others.
