Think of the example of Jesus in the Garden of Gesthemane. He was praying to be freed from the task his father set before him (which was to be crucified). The Roman soldiers who captured him were fought by the disciples. Peter ended up cutting off the soldier's ear. Jesus turned around and healed the Roman soldier's ear.
Do you believe that Jesus, if he were physically on earth today would send people to war?

Jesus could have fought back, but this is an example of the gentleness of Christ.

Angelhunt, but you need to look at those verses in context. If you did you would realize that this was talking about something very different...

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." (Matthew 10:34) "I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division." (Luke 12:49-51)
It always amazes me how ignorant christians are of their own religion.

Yes, I do. Read the Old Testament and see for yourself how many times God ordained war as a method of redemption for His believers.

Jesus was asking His Father, that if it was God's will to not let Him get crucifed, let His Father's will be done. Jesus was not asking for what He wanted for Himself, but asking for the will of God.
Jesus is here today. And I am in no position to second guess what Jesus would or wouldn't do.For He is greater than I am.

God sent many to war. Look at Joshua to name one. When we who are saved return with Jesus at his second coming its for battle.
