I'm Canadian (from Toronto) and I've been living in California for the past few years. I'd really like to move back. Can anyone tell me how the job market is over there? I work as an executive/ administrative assistant. Is that an in-demand job right now? I also have my licensing to work as a dental assistant. How much do they take away in taxes? Its just me and my 2-year old son.... Any advice is appreciated! :)

David is bang on, there are loads of jobs for AAs (check charity village.ca). If you have any trouble or need some direction, there are lots of Temp or placement agencies that can kick start things for you.

With any job - you can count on at least 30% of your paycheck being swalled up by taxes, pension, and other lovely deductions.

The job market in Toronto is somewhat stagnant at the moment, due in large part to the large number of skilled immigrants choosing Toronto to reside and the increasing numbers of people graduating from university. So expect competition!

Better you continue to work at the place where you are working at present. Canadian job market is very tight and may not provide you job as per your requirements.
