1 John 5:7?

Question

what does your bible say? some muslims was saying the verse was made up in the 17th century and thats why most don't include it but the Latin Vulgate and the KJV says it they are booth pre-17th. century the verse is suppose to say: For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. something in those words..??

These Translations NW. RS, NE, TEV, JB, NAB leave out the Trinitarian passage. “in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth.” Reason be:

Scrivener wrote: “We need not hesitate to declare our conviction that the disputed words were not written by St. John: that they were originally brought into Latin copies in Africa from the margin, where they had been placed as a pious and orthodox gloss on ver. 8: that from the Latin they crept into two or three late Greek codices, and thence into the printed Greek text, a place to which they had no rightful claim.”—A Plain Introduction to the Criticism of the New Testament (Cambridge, 1883, third ed.), p. 654.

The Muslims are right, except the date of the verse precedes the 17th century. 15th or 16th century is more accurate. The verse was copied from the original (dubius) manuscript by Erasmus into the Greek New Testament in 1516, which is how it entered our Bibles.

The manuscript is #61 from family 13 of the Caesarean Text-Types.

The verse is spurious, but it has no effect on the Trinity doctrine.

It's not "just the Muslims" that know that those words were added to the bible. (and it was added prior to the 17 century)

When a "christian" quotes this verse to prove the trinity, all they are showing is their own lack of bible knowledge.

I know one gentleman, when he read John 10:30 he added the word person at the end of the sentence. He read the verse 3 times, and I finally asked where is the word person was, and he started to point to it. He was so surprised to find that it wasn't there.

People see and believe what they want, not what the bible says.

Muslims will say and do anything to try and discredit the Bible (KJB). They think if they can prove that God is no manifested in the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost in one God then they can say that out God is false. Without using I John 5:7 there is prove in the scripture of the Trinity. (1) The Spirit raised Jesus. Romans 8: 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. (2) God the Father raised Him: Romans 6: 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (3) Jesus raised himself.John 2: 19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. John 2: 21 But he spake of the temple of his body. Remember the Muslims serve a dead god and they don't like the idea that our God is alive. The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sin, He was buried and took our sins away and He rose again the third day for justification. He is alive siting on the Right hand of God the Father and the Holy Spirit dwells withing the believer. My opinion of the verse is that it signifies that there are three members of the Godhead, each one individual. There is God the Father, His Son - Jesus Christ (AKA for this verse- the Word), and the Holy Spirit, and that these three are one in purpose, not literally one.

I'm Mormon and we use the KJV Bible. Here is what ours says:
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the aFather, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are bone.

Note the footnotes at "Father" and at "one" do not read "a Father" or "bone", but that the "a" with Father should be superscripted, andthe "b" with one should also be superscripted.

it is in my bible but it dont matter theres way more scripture verses in the bible that tell they all 3 are 1 in the same its like the sun it is 3 thangs in one lets say the rock the core of the sun is god then lets say the light is jesus and the heat the light gives off is the holy ghost see 3 seperate forms but all are one the core heat and light are all the sun just as the father son and holy ghost are 1 in the same as well

It is not made up. The bible is complete written by God, inspired through man. Inspired literally means "God breathed".

For there are three that testify: The Spirit , the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

Your version means the same.

the spirit that testifies for the spirit is the truth" is part of it...mine starts in verse 6 THANKS now we have two trinity verses!! also see Matt 28:19 !!! see what theyre doing ATTacking the heart of Christianity....why are they worried?? cuz its true!!
