Which is healthier? Grazing every hour or so on healthy snacks, or eating three solid meals that hold you over until the next one?

Three healthy meals is better, if you can do it that way. Some people have real trouble (ulcers, acid reflux) if they let their stomach get really empty, in which case the snack in between meals must be counted in the total for the day. If you "graze," it's way too easy to eat too much carbohydrate and fat, and not enough protein.

It depends on what you need, for some people eating every hour just isn't possible. For losing weight, eating small meals every few hours of healthy food, will help you to lose weight and stay healthy without starving. I have heard it is healthier to eat small meals frequently. For more info check out other answers, or talk to a nutritionist. Good luck. J

Like the previous person said, eating frequent meals keeps your glucose/insulin levels even throughout the day instead of spikes and dips. I also found some articles that suggest lower cholesterol is linked to increased meal frequency. I also found some articles that refute the claim that frequent meals is an effective means of weight control.

I think that eating 4 or 5 frequent SMALL MEALS, and I stress, small meals, is healthier. Make sure you're getting all of the food groups in those small meals. Take vitamins too, they help.

I've heard several times from several different sources that's it better to have multiple small meals throughout the day. It's better for your metabolism, and the light meals will you keep you energized instead of weigh you down as a full meal would....

Three solid meals. By grazing you become addicted to snacking.

Small meals frequently are better - they keep your blood sugar on an even keel so you don't get super hungry and overeat. Not so much eating every hour, but optimally, your body needs to be refueled every 3-4 hours.
